From our European Collection, a very fine English oak refectory table, late 18th / early 19th century, hand-tooled from solid plank timbers and iron nails, using rustic style hand-carving for design motifs, and with crossbar support on the bottom. This piece has great natural patina to the wood that gives it wonderful character in addition to the charm of its obvious Olde Worlde masculine feel. An Antique Cinnabar Chinese carved tea jar. Carved in high relief with figures in a garden landscape. Some carved flowers on the lid and shoulder of the jar.

Lacquer tobbaco or snuff box with faux tortoise finish and brass Maltese cross inlay on the lid.

Origin: England, ca. 1820. Condition: good; some crackling and scratching of lacquer surface; one 1/2" and one 1/8" flake on the bottom. Size: 3-1/2" diam.; 1-5/8" tall.

Beautiful Japanese kusuri medical tansu made of kiri wood (paulownia) and sugi side frames (Japanese cypress or cryptomeria). With warm original finish and hand forged hardware. Lacquer dark reddish, brown and mahogany tones that shows well in lighter and dark rooms. Total of 102 individual drawers.

A unusually large and massive 17th. century lock, possibly German.

A complicated lock with what looks like two keyholes and mounted on a studded iron plate, very heavy!

Size: 36 cm. wide and 31 cm. tall - which makes it the largest lock in the collection of European decorative ironworks that we're currently handling.

An exqusite example of antique Chinese furniture with intricate carving and elegant proportions and design. All hand made with the extremly rare and sought after huang hua li wood. In excellent condition.

A fine faience stoneware vessel, probably for oil or wine circa 1820 measuring 7” width

This rare and wonderful table was made by John Henry Belter circa 1850-1860. It has a white marble top, and four c-scrolled legs - each one different. There is a dolphin, an eagle, a boar and a hound. The table measures 29" tall x 42" long x 32 3/4" deep. A table exactly like this one sold at Neal Auction in 2003 for $50,000. This is a very rare and wonderful piece of Americana.

Rectangular black laquered snuffbox enhanced with mustard- and red-painted decoration on all six surfaces. The inside of the lid is engraved "Alexr C. Stark/Paterson, NJ". American, ca. 1830. Excellent condition, showing slight surface wear where Mr. Stark (obviously a right handed gentlemen) placed his thumb to open the box.
