The air travels through the bamboo tubes creating notes (said to sound like the Ho bird or phoenix). This is an extremely heavy, awesome, bronze age harpoon from Northern India dating to circa 1500 BC. This magnificent piece weighs 996 grams and measures roughly 304mm in length. Measuring 2.75 inches in diameter by 3 inches high, this darling, circa 1890's, English, porcelain, double quill holder features a startled mother dove attempting to fend off a serpent about to devour the three eggs in her nest!
