An absolutely lovely large terracotta head of a female deity, perhaps Aphrodite/Venus, Hellenistic or early Roman, 2nd. century BC-1st. cent AD.

The unusual head is not hollowcast but solid and done in the fine Hellenistic or early Roman style. She is tilting her head slightly to her left and has an elaborate headdress.

Size: c. 10 cm. tall and 7 cm. wide and weighing 252 grams.

Entirely hand-modeled terracotta lion resting with crossed forepaws. The elongated body with vividly rendered mane, the tail runs between the legs to rest on the back.
The missing head reveals the buildup of the figure. Excellent modeling.
The collector’s label is covered by a second one referring to Fischer’s 1941 sale and reads B1404-234-pe ist).
The ink inscription is illegible and indicates, as with other pieces of the collector, where the figurine was found...

Appears to represent the nude Adonis, his right leg slightly bent on the knee, standing on a raised pedestal, gazing down on an enamoring Aphrodite, with hair pulled back into a bun, her right arm bent at the elbow, and her left hand, grasping her long, flowing drapery. Of a fine early Roman style, c. 1st. century AD and with inspiration from archaic art. Light red clay with a beige overlay. die-formed. Standing Aphrodite with her cloak wrapped around her legs and holding a shell in each hand. Provincial?! Head, one foot and large parts of the shells are missing.

Handmade Daunian kyathos with horn-like projections on top of the high strap handle.

Rare handmade askos of lenticular body and truncated conical neck.
The lip around the spout is shaped as an oversized disc. Its back was bent by the potter to create space for an unusual ring handle of square cross-section.
Decorated with orange and purplish black bands alternating with very thin fillets and diamond patterns. The front of the neck with chevrons, one of them spiky, both flanked by a branch or shrub...

Apulian salt cellar with rounded rim band and concave sided bottom.
Warm brownish gloss with fingermarks around the base, where held during dipping.
Similar bowls are known from southern Italy, notably eastern Lucania, northern Apulia and Campania.

She is seated, depicted veiled, and playing on a tympanum, leaning slightly back.

Attractive black-glazed oinochoe with trefoil spout and arched handle. The neck area decorated with grape wine and tendril motifs suspended from bands. The applied white color partially ‘gilded’ with a yellow ochre wash.
Fingerprints around the foot indicate that the vase was dipped into the glaze.
