This large Chinese scale has metal balance beams and shallow metal bowls. The scale fits into an ornately carved red and black lacquer wooden case which is slightly domed and has its original copper band closure. There is some wood chip loss around what was the hole for the string which allowed the case to be hung up for storage. Dating from the 1800's the braided cords which attach the shallow bowls to the metal balance beam appear to be replacement cords...

A unusual rare black wooden lacquered plate with a three fish design and a little frog. Very unusual to find wooden plates from that period. Age: Ten Kingdoms, 907 - 979 AD Size: Radius: 17cm. Condition: Some dirt incrustation from long burial and small old chips around the rim and one little piece glued on the rim. Overall not bad for the age. See photos.

Rare and beautiful pair of antique imperial Chinese lacquer storage trunks. Made of wood and lacquered with highly detailed gold patterns of flowers and dragons on a black lacquer ground. The top of each trunk is lacquered with scenes of pavilions and figures among pine tress. Areas of woven bamboo work are framed with red lacquered carved wood. An unusual leather box lacquered red on the outside. There is writing on the inside of the box. The writing might be to identify the item or the manufacturer. Size: L.43cm. W. 11cm. H. 6.5cm. Condition: No repairs. Some chips on the lacquer from age.

A fairly large lacquer chest with two original handles and lock. It has a removable tray inside. Size: L. 43.3cm. W. 24.7cm. H. 21cm. Condition: Very good. No repairs.

An unusual octagonal Chinese lacquer stacked box set painted with black ground and elaborate gold designs featuring prominently the warring dragons and pearl motif on the lid, also repeated stylistically on the sides. Cabriole legs support a sunken base which supports 2 trays and a lid. Overall condition is quite good but as you will see in one of the photos, there is paint loss on the legs to varying degrees, the one shown being the most egregious example. The interior of the box is crimson...

Very well crafted Chinese lacquer cinnabar box, exterior of the box is decorated with floral and geometrical designs, length of box is 7 inches with width of 3.1 inches, from late 19th century period. Condition of the box is consistent with the age.

DESCRIPTION: A captivating pair of lacquered figural candle pricks, each in the form of a smiling attendant with hand on hip, wearing a banded hat and holding aloft a candle dish. The figures themselves are hand crafted of solid brown lacquer around a wire frame, while the flared bases are wood blocks covered in brown lacquer. This unusual, rare pair date from approximately 1750 – 1850, and are in remarkable condition with the expected age wear to the lacquered surface...

Chinese Bridal large Red Lacquer on wood Food Container or storage bowl with removable tops, 7" high, 20 5/8" diameter on top, made in 19th century. The low relief carving in brown lacquer work scrolling vines on red lacquer base is in good condition with some gold highlighted between the decoration. The top is in two(2) pieces, lift to open, the holes are for air circulation. Shows some joining separations, and wrapped around with original metal wire...

Antique Chinese tassels from the 18th centur, Sino-TIbetan. The tassels are inlaid gilt and lacquered iron with red horse hair, probably used as ornaments on a horse for the saddle. The decoration has fret key bands and an endless knot pattern. The tassles are displayed in a plastic case. The top of the tassle measures 4" long(10.2 cm).
