Statue of a Taoist deity, in formal attire, seated on a throne. Wood, decorated with polychrome pigments. Small votive box at the back. China, Qing dynasty, end of 19th century. Height: 22.7 cm. Traces of candle soot on the front, old insect attack beneath (no danger), otherwise good condition.

Chinese Chinoiserie pagoda evocative of Chinese motif in architecture especially in the 18th century. Very popular in Europe and highly collected as an exotic curiosity. Made of lacquered wood and gilt wood roof in hexagonal shaped shrine structure.

An antique Chinese Fu Dog artist rendered from one piece of natural Wisteria root wood. Designed with its mouth open, it is expelling evil spirits. Its angled posture combined with its knobby and swirling texture adds visual movement to this magnificent burl root .

In Tang dynasty many sansai figures were received in tomb rooms and likewise many painted unglazed pottery figure what had been making from ancient times were received too. This figure is very excellent and with good condition. Considering that this figure is greeting with Chinese style, this person is supposed as a Sogdian delegate. Statue of Buddha Sakyamuni, in monk's robes, standing on an elevated circular base, his hands in abhaya and varada mudra. Bronze with nice, partly encrusted patina. China, Tang Dynasty. Height: 11.7 cm. Very good condition.

Buddhist statue of a guardian deity ("dvarapala"), standing on clouds, in martial posture. Bronze, with fine dark green and reddish patina. China, Tang Dynasty. Height: 5.7 cm. The statue is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Left arm missing, some abrasion, otherwise very good condition

A large and powerful polychromed wooden carving of a Chinese demonic altar guardian figure, possibly Shun-Feng Erh, dating to the 17th century. Multiple coats of polychrome confirm the piece's great age. Intact, with, most probably, a reattached break in the figure's sash, visible in the photos. A full exposition of the role played by similar figures can be found in Arts of Asia, September-October 1998, "Demonic Images on Chinese Altars." The piece stands just over 16 inches in height...

A charming, diminutive Ming sculpture of a musician, measuring 4 inches in height. The face has been carefully modeled, as the photos will, hopefully, confirm. The glaze is in excellent condition. Please be sure to look at the last photo, as you will see that the head has been almost invisibly reattached.

This is a large, gilt terracotta head of an official, dating to the 15th-16th century. The face shows great character and was, evidently, meant to represent someone of importance, given the extensive gilding, much of which remains. The "beard" consists of (I believe) horsehair. The figure was attached to the body of the statue with a wooden peg, which remains...

Wood statue of a bearded Taoist deity, in formal attire, sitting on a throne. China, Late Yuan, early Ming Dynasty. Height: 24.3 cm. Obvious signs of great age, otherwise good condition.

Finely cast, with nice details, miniature statue of bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, standing on a lotus base, his left hand holding what seems to be a gourd. Bronze, with encrusted reddish green patina, with traces of the original gilding. China, Tang Dynasty. Height: 5.6 cm. The statue is nicely mounted on a custom wood stand. Good condition.

Small statue of Kuan Yin, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy, wearing a diadem and formal robes, sitting on a double lotus throne, her right hand in abhaya mudra. Gilt bronze, with fine dark green patina. China, 19th century. Height: 8.8 cm. Gliding partly missing, otherwise every good condition.

Small statue of Buddha, in monk's robes, standing on a lotus, his hands in abhaya and varada mudras. Hollowed at the back. Tenon below the lotus. Bronze, with reddish-green patina and traces of soil encrustations. China, Tang Dynasty. Height: 9.8 cm. Tiny casting defect on the lower left side of the robes, otherwise very good condition.

Seated on a lotus throne, guarded by two attendants. On the back of the stand there is an inscription : This is a statue (or carving) or Kwanyin, for Mr. Wang (??)'s wife, Mrs. Chao (??). 2nd day, 4th month Daoguang 10th year (1830 A.D.). Condition: usual age wear, loss of gilding, the ribbon from the crown at the right side is missing. H. 23 cm.

Head of Buddha, eyelids lowered, with a meditative expression, with a small usnisa above forehead. Wood, with multiple layers of lacquering and gilding. China, Qing Dynasty, 18th century, maybe earlier. Height: 32.5 cm. Some chips, otherwise very good condition.
