Snuff bottle made of beautiful white Peking Glass. This bottle has carvings on both sides of a face, most likely a protective deity. The bottle stopper is carved green agate in the shape of a ram-like creature with a single curved horn, its entire body coiled around itself. This rare middle or late 19th century ¡°tea dust¡± porcelain snuff bottle is 3 inches tall and 1½ inches on the widest part. The color and the shape of the body are superb. It is in excellent condition.

Each side decorated in iron-red with Zhong Kui, on one main side the bearded, wild-eyed "Demon Queller" is shown dressed as a warrior and brandishing his sword, on the other main side he is shown dressed as a scholar and holding a closed folding-fan in his right hand. A Chinese reticulated iron porcelain snuff bottle with a dragon and phoenix among clouds beneath key fret and ryui border, neck with a silver rim, jade stopper. The red color is the same as used when decorating porcelain, though in this case it is applied as a solid color. The desired effect is to imitate red cinnabar lacquer. Circa, probably from the Jiaqing period (1796 - 1820). Height 3".

Bubble-suffused glass bottle of compressed globular form with translucent red overlay. The lip is flat, and the base has a thick oval foot ring that has been carved to reveal the slightly convex shape of the body. Old gilt stopper with no pin inside.
