19th century small Chinese lapis lazuli carving of Buddha Shakyamuni fast asleep as he leans on a rock. Very nice carving, quiet serene face, beautiful stone of bright blue with white veining and gold colored spots. Very pleasant patina, fixed in well carved hardwood stand. Length with stand 2 3/16 inches, height with stand 1 9/16 inches.

Rather unusual late 19th century Chinese scholar’s rock made out of a piece of amber. Did not photograph well. Wonderfully translucent when held against light, can be viewed from several sides and conveys a very good feeling of a weathered surface of a mountain. There is an internal energy in the piece - a combination of shape, texture and color of the material. Very nice rosewood fitted stand. Excellent object for scholar’s table. Height with stand 2 3/4 inches.

Chinese Carved Green jade Yue axe, having a central incised anthropomorphic mask design and meandering thunder pattern. Tan and dark brown suffusion and calcification with slight surface erosion. Suspended from a black silk cord on wooden stand. 4"H x 5.25"W. Stand measures 7"H x 8"W.

Chinese White jade pendant in the form of a dragon and phoenix with incised heart designs. Diffuse calcification. Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD) unearthed in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. Size; Length of carving is 4 inches, no condition issues noted.

DESCRIPTION: A large, ten pronged tortoise shell comb made for the European market (Victorian era, circa 1880-1890). The fashion of the day included large elaborate combs placed in upswept hair, and this one is a real beauty! The curved prongs and scalloped crown are from a single piece of shell which is mounted with three large round beads and two carved triangular designs. Very good condition with only a couple of tiny nits that are difficult to even see...

Late Qing era, well crafted Chinese Jade carving in the form of a saddled recumbent horse in graduated shades of green, having incised details and openwork areas at head and feet. DESCRIPTION: A good Chinese scholar’s brushpot, carved in deep relief with a continuous mountain landscape scene framed by gnarled pine trees and depicting two groups of scholars, some examining a scroll and others in a boat. The base and rim are encased in hardwood and the pot is engraved with a two line inscription. Very good condition, latter Qing Dynasty, 19th to early 20th C. DIMENSIONS: 6 ½” high (16.5 cm) x 6” diameter (15.2 cm).

An unusual Chinese amethyst covered vase, carved with squirrel amongst fruiting vines ,with the sides showing bunches of grapes. The cover is carved in detail with a laughing, mischievous boy holding some of the fruit. The vase stands on a separate base which is formed to resemble a rock.
