An attractive brass or white bronze alter / shrine of Virabhadra (Shiva with attendants), Western India, difficult to date, but we think it's at least 18th.-19th. century, but likely somewhat older.

18th century Indian bronze votive sculpture of Nandi - the vehicle of Shiva, or sometimes considered to be a form of Shiva himself. It rests wearing rich trappings in front of Shiva lingam. Very nice casting, wonderful feel of age produced by devotional wear and compressed sandalwood paste used during worship. Very good devotional object, pleasant to hold. Length 2 inches.

Tibetan Himalayan region Tsampa Tea Bowl, hard Silver wrapped Burlwood Tea Bowl, Ca. 1900, 2 1/2" high, 4" diameter on top rim, Silver impressed and raised Buddhist design on high foot wrapped around the bottom. Red Wax Seal mark in the center of the bottom. Hand hammered mark inside silver bowl, not a damage.

Long offering vessel in the shape of a "yoni" (stylised female sex) with a centrally placed pointed "lingam" (stylised male sex). Hammered copper, with a fine reddish-green patina. India, early 19th century. Length: 26 cm. Very good condition. A rather rare object. Four wonderfully executed oval Indian paintings of Mughal rulers in gouache and gold on paper. Framed behind glass in a gilt wooden frame, in France in the 19th century. The passe-partout with handwritten titles as: "Shah Ichan" (Jahan?), "Shah Alum" (Alam), "Azime Shah" and "Miran Shah". Reverses with the label of the framer. Condition: the frames with traces of usage and age and small losses, one frame damaged. Dimension: portraits: c. 9.5 x 7.5 cm, frames: 24 x 20 cm.

Beautifully decorated book cover, of very refined gilded hammered copper on wood, with, on one side, two dragons with the "Ratna", or "Mani" (the Jewel of the Buddhist doctrine) in the middle, surrounded by stylised cloud motifs and framed in lotus design. On the other side, three handpainted Buddhist figures representing Manjushri, Chenresig and the Mahakala. These paintings have withstood the test of time a little less well than the front side...

This very well cast bronze dates most likely to the early to mid-18th century, although I have conservatively dated it slightly later for the listing. The piece depicts a seated lama and measures 4" (10cm) in height. The base is sealed with a double-dorje plate; there appears to be consecration inside. In excellent condition free of any repair. Pieces such as this have fairly well vanished from the market, as those of you who collect in this area are undoubtedly aware...

Black and white pair of unusual statues of protecting deity and ancestor. They are made of wood and date from the 18th. century. West Nepal.

They both bare signs of great age and eroded wood.

A fine portrait-image of Tsongkapa (1357–1419), the founder of the Gelugpa School of Tibetan Buddhism. Brownish bronze alloy with a high content of copper. Tibet, 17th century. H 14 cm. Fully sealed with original closing. Condition: Some rubbing to gold, and sword on the right shoulder missing.

This small hand painted picture on cloth, called a Tsakli was used for Buddhist religious instruction and rituals in Tibet.
