An e-kagami of very small proportions 69.4mm (2.73 inches) in diameter, and 12.2cm (4.8 inches) weighing 51gm. Decorated with a sand textured ground and Hares, usage, leaping over stylised waves, nami,in this example taking the form of ryusuimon in which there is a reflection of a crescent moon. A small bronze mirror with a diameter of 6.88cm (2.71 inches) and a total length of 12.1cm (4.8 inches) weighing a mere 42gm. Decorated with a Kano school asymmetric composition of a prancing Tiger and Bamboo probably having a common source to similar compositions found on Kakiemon porcelain. The mirror is signed Fujiwara. A Japanese circular hand mirror decorated with a stylised representation of Penglai, Horai, island the principal elements of which are a pair of small birds in flight, stylised rocks with pine branches above stylised waves and a central Turtle, kame, form boss. The mirror is probably late Kamakura or Nambokucho in date, first half of the fourteenth century. The mirror measures approximately 10.7cm in diameter, and 0.7cm high at the rim, and the edge measures 3.75mm in width, and weighs 200gms...

Antique Japanese copper hanging lamp, Meiji period, 1868-1912. This is a beautiful lantern with panels decorated with peonies in a field of arabesques. Three smaller hanging blossoms hang off the top of the lantern. The lantern has two doors that open and are fastened shut with a decorated arm. The lower register is decorated with panels incised with a repeating wave design. The feet of the lantern are petal or leaf shaped, decorated with an incised arabesque design...

Antique Japanese bronze mizusashi with lid, decorated with waves. The mizusashi is a vessel used during the Japanese tea ceremony to hold water. The body of the container has a dragon's head on each side with a bronze ring. The lid is decorated with a band of waves, the handle is rounded. Meiji period, 1868-1912. True original bronze Vessal It measures 10" tall with lid, 6.5" wide at opening 11" at widest point (dragon to dragon handle).

Hard to find, 19th Japanese articulated spiny lobster. Loss case method of solid copper. Each piece is meticulously cast and fitted with all 10 legs and long antenna. Fully articulated and movable, the lobster if fully splayed for viewing on a complex mounted stand.

Wonderful unusual round bronze suiban or ikebana flower vessel from the late Taisho Period c.1920. Subtle silver inlay fence and small flowers in relief. Excellent condition, no dents or cracks. 10" diameter and stands on tripod legs 2 1/2" tall. Ask for shipping quote.

A rectangular bronze suiban decorated with patterns of swimming Koi in fast flowing water. The design apparently largely cold worked rather than cast and patinated with a reddish brown finish. The moulded handles in the form of Kuwai, the marshland Japanese Arrowhead plant. The suiban measures 18.5cm long, excluding the handles, and 13cm wide and stands 7.2cm high to the rim and weighs approximately 1.1kg. The bronze is in good, sound condition. It dates to the late Meji period...

Antique Japanese bronze yatate, a pipe shaped container for the carrying of cotton saturated with calligraphy ink with a long shaft for a brush. The main component is cylindrical in shape with an inner compartment and an outer decorative area with scrolling vines and flowers. The lid has a kiri leaf design. The brush shaft has a fu dog towards the top and scrolling vines with kiri leaves running down towards the end, where it stands on an elephant's head...

Antique Japanese large bronze suiban, or shallow dish for the display of viewing stones and small plants. The legs have been wonderfully casted to resemble gnarled vines, or perhaps a Buddha's hand citron fruit. One side of the suiban displays a raised dragon flying through incised winds.
