Incredible Japanese highly bronze figure of three playful puppies. One falling onto his back, another laying in the middle and the last one climbing over him. They are all very finely detailed. The artist's signature on the bottom of the middle puppy. Very well done with exquisite detail.

A fine and interesting bronze sculpture of a lady selling fish. The figure is holding a basket of fish with a humorous looking octopus wanting to jump out of the basket. Often during the Meiji period, figures from daily life such as sellers of various produce and products were created for the Euro-American market where the charm and simplicity appealed to collectors. Samurai menpo mask with the ressei (fierce) expression, belonging to the me-no-shita "half-face" type, which stands out for its leather surface to simulate finely hammered iron.
Remarkable are the generously sized imposing nose and chin, which add a distinctive element to the face of the mask.

Antique Japanese Buddhist candle holder with long handle. Made of bronze and incised all over with an octopus vine motif. The chalice shaped stand sits on a chrysanthemum shaped foot and has a candle pricket that is hinged so it closes when not in use. A long handle is attached to one side so it can be carried.

An antique Japanese large bronze shrine vase cast in a loss wax technique. Depicting waves of a rough ocean with sea spray floating in the air, the female turtle carries a hatchling on its back while facing downward with its mouth open to expel evil spirits. The male turtle is jumping above the waves with its mouth closed to retain the good spirits. All three turtles have their wisps of sea algae growing from their shells as a symbol of the parents old age and the hatchling's life beginning...
Pair of beautiful iron Abumi (horse riding stirrups). Gorgeous imprinted geometrical flower design all over iron, contrasted with red lacquered foot areas, from Edo period (18th century) . The black may be Shakudo, copper and gold.
