Framed painting. Anatomically correct skeleton striking a rather elegant pose. Black ink and gofun on brown paper. Unsigned. Japan, late Edo, early Meiji era. Mid 19th century.

An antique Japanese Ikebana bamboo basket in a cylindrical form mimicking a Gourd. It was woven in a vertical stitch pattern juxtapose a visually lesser diagonal weave. The artist used the thin and medium bamboo strips to contrast and undulate texture and movement within the basket. The base forms a hexagonal circle with a six point star pattern at the bottom.

This is Fukusa used in Kyoto for Edo period. It is very beautiful fukusa.This has a line of delicate Tsutsugaki and embroidery and a delicate sumi painting. This is produced by a bold design. Japanese indigo cotton fireman's coat, with sashiko stitching and freehand paste resist decoration (tsutsugaki) of a cherry blossom, overlapping rings and striations. The front of the coat has four kanji characters on the lapel, and the inside of the coat is resist dyed with geometric designs and a round central emblem.

This is Patchwork silk yosegire child kimono textile in Edo period(1800-1867).This yosegire kimono is a patchwork of natural safflower dyed shibori, shikon dyed katazome, and indigo dyed kaiki-silk.All are originals from the Edo period. The lining is red silk, and the stains on the outer material are due to the red silk. There are slight stains and damage. Recommended for collection.
