Burmese puppet head was mainly used in the puppet show. The string on top of the head can be pulled up to slide the tongue in and out of puppet's mouth. Due to the heavily used of puppets, the body and costumes are no longer survived.

Very rare bronze AVA Buddhist Sculpture with Nimbus,17th Century, Burma, with naturally formed verdigris patina. The nimbus (halo of light) is a strong characteristic of the Ava style. Alabaster Shan Buddha circa 18th century. This has been left out in the sun and rain for the past 15years so the surface has begun to degrade (a good lesson in the Buddhist principle of Anicca ~ the impermanence of all things). The head has been reattached. The base is hollow- the only example I have ever seen with this. H: 27cm/10.6in and W: 11cm/4.2in.
