A very rare bronze set of Buddha and two disciples. Thailand, Early Rattanakosin, early 19th century. Dimensions: Buddha 32 cm excl. parasol, 50cm incl. parasol. The disciples 14 cm high. Condition: excellent, expected age wear to the gilding, original parasol and hand mirror.

From our Southeast Asia Collection, a fine and large pair of ornamental bronze Burmese gongsmen, early 20th century, crisply cast depicting two gongsmen carrying a large circular gong known as a "maung" suspended beneath a pole. During Burma's Konbaung Dynasty (1752-1885), official announcements were made to the townspeople by a King's Representative accompanied by two gongsmen, who would customarily alert the town to their announcement by striking the maung...

From our Southeast Asia Collection, a fine and large Thai Rattanakosin bronze Buddha, early-to-middle 19th century, depicting Buddha with both hands raised shoulder level with palms forward in Ham Samut mudra, also known as "Calming the Waters" or "Calming the Ocean" mudra. Buddha is wearing regal attire here with traditional tall crown and body jewelry that is elaborately inset with lacquer and glass adornments. Gilding retention is relatively high on this example...

From our Southeast Asia Collection, a large and classic 19th century Burmese Hsun-ok from Pagan, of well- known and documented form, constructed of wood that is first lacquered in black, and then covered in successive layers of cinnabar-colored lacquer called hinthabada. Over time, through use and handling, the cinnabar lacquer wears off to reveal the black lacquer base underneath...

A Rare Vietnamese large dish decorated with under-glaze blue and white bird perched on branches of peach trees and butterflie at the center,with enamelled red and green color. Dish has one hairline and enamelled degradations. Free from any restorations. 35,2cm diameter.

A rare Vietnamese brown glazed bowl decorated with molded Dragon and Phoenix motive. Foliated rim. 17,5cm diameter...7 cm high...Conditions : on restorations.

Height approximately 29.5 cm. Few small dents. The base has been layered with tin to increase weight, not for repairing purposes (must see photo number 10). There are many ornaments (silver inlaid) not appeared (more photos let us know). Overall it's a good vase.
