An elegant and highly stylized zun-shaped lacquered bronze vase, either Chinese Late Ming Period (1600's) or Japanese Early Edo Period (1600's). This very interesting and attractive piece with its splayed footed base, angular shoulder, and trumpet-shaped mouth that resembles opened floral petals when viewed from the interior, was most likely intended as a flower vase itself, but its intended purpose is no more certain than its actual country of origin...

Hanging scroll with image in ink, red, gofun and gold on paper of the bodhisattva Fugen in twenty-armed form sitting on a lotus throne guarded by the four guardian kings each standing on the head of an elephant, the whole being carried by a crowd of elephants. The black outlines printed, the image subsequently colored by hand. To the lower left the name of the donor: Reiun Jogan. Japan, Muromachi period.

Chinese Amber Carved Flower & Peach Silver Pin Marked Silver, Late 18th Century or Early 19th Century

It is 1.8 inches (4.6 cm) tall by 2.5 inches (6.4 cm) wide. The amber is 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) tall by 2.1 inches (5.5 cm) wide. It is 19.6 gram.

It is in good condition with no repairs, or cracks, except flea bite chips and surface scratches (as seen in the photos).

Breathtaking antique Japanese cloissone vase from the Ando Factory. In the original signed box, the characters read 'shigyokuju yoran kabin' meaning purple jewel glaze orchid flower vase, and 'Ando ShippoTen Tsukuri' made by the Ando Cloissone Company. The purple is striking and the musen wireless orchids fantastic. What drew us to this piece is the wonderful shape of the vase itself. Has the Ando mark on the base. Excellent condition. c.1920. (9" x 9") (23cm x 23cm).

There are a total of eight signs, each with a different "saying" having to do with well wishes. Due to the age of the calligraphy, and the vagueres of the old Chinese language, accurate translations have not been possible for each sign. Each sign is carved out of wood with raised wooden characters and inlayed with MOP flakes. Each is 21 inches tall and roughly 4.5 inches wide. Beautiful carved white jade figure depicting one of the 18 Lohan (arhats), sitting with arm resting on one knee, leaning against one shoulder is a gnarled staff with peaches and a bat on top, wonderfully detailed carving especially to the man's face and an earring that is carved to hang free, Republic Period. A perfectly matching pair of Chinese QIANLONG blue & white hand painted tea bowls with scalloped edges. The exterior depicts chrysanthemum and prunus flowers, whereas the inside of the bowl has a single flower in the well and a fine diaper border around the rim. Condition: both have rim frits, one bowl has a nick on the rim while the other has a minor firing crack between the chrysanthemum and the prunus blossoms. Size: 3" (7.5 cm.) diameter x H. 1 3/4" (4.2 cm.)...

This is a nicely carved bamboo bitong or scroll pot on scholar's table, the pair of crane and pine tree are finely carved, possibly from Qing Dynasty and in good condition, please ask for more photos and information before ordering.

Superbly and detailed antique agate carving in the form of a gourd with leaves, smaller gourds, and a bat. In East Asia the gourd is considered an auspicious plant and in China the bat is synonymous to the word fortune in Chinese. Hence, the motif is often seen in various works of art. This is “kataginu” (shoulder cloth), only the upper vest of kamishimo without a trouser. Kami-shimo simply means top and bottom in Japanese.
