Chinese Western Han Dynasty Painted Pottery Ding Tripod

This pottery tripod vessel, or "ding", was made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). It is made from a relatively highly-fired grey pottery. The body stands on three sturdy integral feet. On opposite sides at the waist are two square-cut handles. The cover has been decorated with cold-painted brown and creamy-white pigments. Rare Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Buddhist Pottery Zodiac Jar

This interesting pottery jar was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) and has been been excavated from a Buddhist site in Yunnan province. It is made from a fairly high-fired pale grey pottery, the yellowish-brown surface colour being due to the iron-rich Yunnan soil.

Strips of clay have been applied to the outer wall to form two bands each of six lotus leaf panels...

Porcelain cup, blue and white, with a decoration inside representing concentric floral designs surrounding a chimera located in the center. On the outside, a floral decor of same type as inside. China, apocryphal mark beneath. Early Qing dynasty period, 18th century. Diameter: 22.8 cm. Very good condition.

Early 19th century Japanese wooden devotional carving of Kannon (Chinese Guanyin, or Avalokiteshvara) - the Boddhisattva of Compassion - enveloped in her robe and cape. Kannon grants deliverance from suffering to anyone who calls upon her name. Wonderful quality work, beautiful tranquil face, graceful flow of her robe. Old small losses to nose and feet as can be see on photos. Marked on the bottom in ink with one character followed by kakihan (monogram of the carver)...

The most unusual and unique Japanese soba (noodle) cup that we have encountered, with very beautiful contrasting colors and a garden scene that is breathtaking, a plethora of flowers and a bird swooping down from heaven will delight the senses of the discriminating collector. The footed feature of this soba cup along with the color combination is almost rarely never encountered, as I have never seen another in years...

A beautiful Chinese 10.5 inch high earthenware mudman figurine of a scholar holding a scroll which has been lamped without any seen damage to the figure. 18th century or earlier Indian bronze votive sculpture of standingmale figure with a dagger and a a lingam in his hands. I believe the image to be a rare 2-armed form of Govinda Bhairava, who is a syncretic form of Vishnu and Shiva. Wonderful casting, great detailing of his clothes and jewelry, beautiful devotional wear, excellent patina. Height 4 3/4 inches.

Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse (AD 618 - 906)

This very attractive pottery model of a horse was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery that has been "cold painted" in a reddish-brown pigment with black and white pigments to highlight the head, mane and tail. This horse is well-modelled and stands straight, alert, looking ahead.

19th century Japanese kozuka (sword knife) handle with multimetal inlays depicting a kingfisher sitting on reeds as it watches a stream beneath it for fish. Kozuka body is made of sentoku (alloy consisting of copper, zinc and tin), bronze, copper and shakudo inlays, gilding and silvering. Wonderful elegant design in Japanese taste, excellent detailing. Overall in very good condition. Length 3 7/8 inches.

Rare Chinese Eastern Han Dynasty Green & Brown Glazed Granary with Cover

This rare pottery vessel was made during the Eastern Han Dynasty (AD 25 - 220). It is made from a relatively high-fired pottery that has been coated in two different colour glazes. The upper and lower body are coated in a dark greenish-brown glaze that is finely-crackled, the colour of which varies in places...

Lovely hand painted Japanese Kutani tea caddy with inner lid. The jar features birds in flight, a slight crackle finish, gold accents, and is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no hairlines, no repairs. It is signed on the bottom. The tea caddy measures about 5.75 Inches (14.6 cm)tall. Circa 1900.

This well-modeled figure of a recumbent ox is one of twelve figures representing the traditional Chinese zodiac. It is formed in grey earthenware and was originally carved in a thin slip of white clay, much of which still remains.
