A pair of miniature size (3 1/2" by 4 3/8" inside the innermost mat) pages of the holy Qu'ran (Koran) of Islam, circa 19th century, and according to an auction house specialist, most likely Ottoman origin. (A handwritten modern note on the backing says Persia, circa 1800). Note the amazing detail and painstaking calligraphy and decoration.
