Depicts Lakshmi wearing loincloth and jewelry standing on a lotus base and holding an oil receptacle (was cast separately and now not present) in front of her, and a handle at the back. Chinese late Tang dynasty to Five Dynasties period stoneware ewer with high shoulder tapering down to a slightly flared foot and flat base, the short neck ending in a slightly wider rolled mouth. A double-strand handle connects to the neck and shoulder, and a short straight spout is opposite the handle. The ewer is covered overall in a thin, splotchy golden glaze with olive green touches that drips down and ends well above the unglazed base. 7 1/8" high...

Ivory netsuke depicting Chokaro clinging to the pumpkin from which the head of a horse emerges. The subject represents the miniature horse of Chōkarō 張果老.
It refers to the legend of Chōkarō Sennin, an immortal being who owns a horse that he can summon as if by magic from a pumpkin if necessary. In Japanese there is a saying “hyōtan kara koma”, “horse appearing from a pumpkin”...

His eyes are dark horn.
