Tsugaru kogin kimono made of vegetable indigo dye hemp whose warps and wefts are hand plied. It is made in Tsugaru region in Aomori prefecture in Tohoku district. This kogin is called "Nishi-Kogin" which has stripes in shoulders. It is for enforcement of shoulders for a charcoal maker who brings a burden. Kogin is a kind of sashiko and its yarn is white cotton, making the hemp kimono warmer with thick sashiko in the colder district. It has several different kinds of kogin pattern...
Japanese Satsuma Phoenix Vase by Kinkozan V, an important and renowned Satsuma artist. It features stylized figures and flowers in under glaze red, yellow, green and blue on a rich black ground. This kind of design was very influential on Art Deco. 9 inches, 23 cm.

Oni mask in dark brown patina lacquered wood with finely sculpted details.
The expression of the mask, although funny, is imbued with a slight fear, creating a balance between the comical and the disturbing. The painted glass eyes add a magnetic depth.

Ornate Mexcian Bridle with brass tacks & rivets circa 1890. Decorated, triangular harness leather on the browband, and circular, decorative harness leather attachments. The bridle measures 19 1/4" long x 9 1/2" wide.
Complete footed cast bronze Hu (wine container), terminating curved and bulbous contour flaring on square mouth. Banded edge and lidded square cover. Has a slight apex top with four serpentine shaped mounted on a terminal bends. The ring handles of the hu measures 2 1/2" diameter with loped and mounted on a taotie mask which is molded in low relief...

18th Century, nicely hand-carved Boxwood Netsuke depicting a recumbent Dog that appears to be pleasantly resting. Very nice stylized touches characterizes this netsuke made during the EDO Period of Japan. Unsigned. A bit larger than most netsuke of this type, with large himotoshi, common of carvings made during the 18th century, and beginning of the 19th century....
