Dominican republic, Taino culture, ca 1000-1300 AD. , ca. 1000 to 1300 AD. A large carved ritual figure with a terrific ancient patina and provenance to an old German Collection.

Japanese antique giver of joy diety elephants, Shingon and Tendai sects, made of boxwood male and female elephants-headed with human body holding another. Well-carved, with inlaid eyes, hollow body. Giver of joy and prosperity. Small restoration.

Late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) embroidered Chinese textile rank badge (also called mandarin square) denoting the third civil rank symbolized by the bird on the badge - the Peacock. Designs on background include peach, pomegranate, fish, shell and bats in flight among clouds and above the fungus of Immortality over the waves. Keyfret borders with peach, pomegranate and Buddha’s hand citron motifs, colors slightly faded, newer black velvet backing. Size 9x9.5 inches.

Rather unusual 19th century/Meiji period Satsuma ceramic jar with cover, decorated on the outside with figures of 4 Chinese boys at play in different attitudes, all on a dark brown ground. Wonderful quality detailed painting - see fine depiction of their faces and hands, flow of robe lines and rich textile patterns. Very unusual feature of totally enameled background. Raised gold decoration, typical Satsuma earthenware body, beautiful finely crackled glaze...

Beautiful old Zhuang minority textile from Guangxi Zhuang/Guizhou province, China. Woven in two panels with silk embroidered “diamond and star” patterned border, "wanzi" swastika key fret and well symbols...

Pair of Japanese iron tsuba (sword guard), mounted on a stand, dating from the 17th/19th century with Hidden Christian motifs. The first tsuba composed of three iron interlocking circles, the image of the Cross can be seen. The second iron tsuba has a very delicate wire design in the interior representing the Crown of Thorns, also has a cross in the overall pattern.

Fine and rare Chinese Qingbai lobed stem cup or bowl; rounded sides divided into six lobes; supported on a cylindrical, slightly flared foot which is unglazed at the base and internally; covered in a bluish glaze with a fine crackle; externally floral decoration inscribed to each lobe; the internal base also shows a floral engraving; tiny nick to rim; good condition

Chinese Jade carving of a maiden representing "Yuenu", a historic figure famous for her ability at archery and how to use a sword. She came from the Chinese province of Zhejiang and is sometimes called the Maiden of the Southern Forrest. The jade is beautifully carved with her holding a sword in her left hand and a ruyi scepter in her right, cloths flowing in the wind.

Chinese antique bronze incensor of immortal riding three legged toad, animated modeling of sage joyously riding on money toad with upraised arms and balancing on raised leg. Figure lifts off as cover to container which is the frog's body. Dark patinated bronze. Good condition.

Chinese antique colored porcelain immortal, Sau, beautifully modeled and painted, standing with blooming peach staff, symbol of longevity & immortality, jovial countenance, facial hair attached made of grey horsehair. Yellow robe with Shou on sleeves.shoulders, and back, peaches, dragon in clouds, flying cranes, impressed cartouche on base. Good condition, some wear to overglaze.

This finely detailed Chinese porcelain plate would make a fine addition to any Rose Mandarin or Rose Medallion collection. It is unusual in that the central medallion features a group of scholars. The rough and somewhat gritty bottom of the plate without any factory markings suggest a factory production circa 1850-1891. In very good antique condition, there is some wear to the enameling in one spot. See photos. Measures 9.5 inches diameter.

This is a very fine pair of Japanese satsuma vases that stand just 4 1/4 inches tall. Attractive form, enamel colors and very fine details. They look like they have spent most of their lives stored in the box. One has the original sticker and both are signed. The signature looks a bit like the Kozan mark but we are not sure. Some of the larger flowers remind us of work seen on Bizan and Yabu pieces.

19th century Japanese bronze match holder of cylindrical section with carved and inlaid multimetal decoration of 3 scholars watching geese in flight over a lake by thatched roof hut and a house with verandah on a rocky outcrop among trees. Quiet subtle piece with unusual feature - the verandah screen is moveable presenting 2 more scholars inside the house. Good quality copper and paktong inlays, cutouts at the lower part of the body form 3 segmented feet...

19th century Chinese cloisonne match box holder decorated on both sides with a blooming lotus flower surrounded by scrolling vines. Very nice work, good patina, in very good condition. Length 2 3/8 inches.

An antique Chinese wedding wine table made entirely of Nan-mu wood. Featuring the Ming dynasty style double interlocking rings of marriage surrounding the sides of the table. Supported on the underside by inner humpback stretchers. Clear lacquer finish was used to showcase the beautiful grain of the wood while the legs and sides were carved to look like bamboo...
