This Qing Dynasty scroll is a kossu woven silk tapestry (kesi is the Japanese term) meticuliously depicts the famous Chinese painting scroll by Ding Yunpeng called The White Horse Carrying Sutras. The original painting was done in 1625 and illustrates the story of the 2 monks who traveled through Western China with a white horse carrying the Buddhas Scriptures. The original hangs in the National Palace Museum (Forbiddon City in TaiPei).

Impressing black Raku tea bowl, signed Kichizaemon, of the Raku family.

The signed box is labeled “10th generation”, which means Tan-nyu (1795-1854). It represents true Japanese Chado, made from of one of the most famous potter clans in Japan. Most pieces of Kichizaemon Tan-nyu are hold in museums.

Tan-nyu Raku was born the second son of Ryonyu, he succeeded as the 10th generation Kichizaemon in 1811...

Antique Chinese Qing Dynasty 19th century Manchu woman's red silk robe/ changfu embroidered with butterflies and wisterias and butterflies remade into a jacket to suit the westerner's taste. The red silk ground if heavy weight gauze, and the embroidery is executed in brick stitch techniques; very fine work! A beutiful 19th C. Chinese sterling silver card case with very intricate silver work. It has dragon motif on one side & fishes on the other side. In good condition considering its age, no major damage. H:4" x W:2-1/2".

This 19th century deeply-carved small boxwood root brush holder (Bi Tong) is 5 ¼ inches high and 2 5/8 inches wide. The carver used the natural shape of the root to create a pine tree and plum blossom. The workmanship is great. The design, carving and polishing are all very well executed. The bottom was filled with softer wood. It is in excellent condition.

Up for sale is an antique Chinese monochrome silk rank badge, woven with an egret, together with bats, Buddhist & Taoist auspicious objects, seawaves, sun disc, and cloud patterns; it meant to be wore on the back of a Mandarin official's surcoat; intricate weaving!
