This Edo period scroll depicts Meota Iwa—a famous Japanese landmark in Mie. Symbolizing the union between two divine deities, Izanagi (said to be the larger rock, though there is no consensus on this point) and his wife Izanami, the two are joined by a shimenawa (heavy straw rope used in Japanese Shinto ceremonies). This straw rope is quite massive and must be replaced several times a year in a special ceremony...

A large late Ming dynasty blue and white "Kraak" porcelain dish. The central star-shaped panel is decorated with flowering plants and a grasshopper or cricket on rockwork. The moulded sides are painted with alternating vertical panels of stylized peaches and buddhistic symbols. This item was made in China for export to Europe during the reign of the Wanli emperor (1573-1619)...

Very pretty Satsuma earthenware bowl, round in shape, decorated with gold and polychrome enamels, representing inside the bowl, courtesans and children, in a garden, under maple trees, and near a lake. The kimonos are sumptuous by the thickness of gold used and the finesse of the details. The perimeter represents a meeting of samurai and on the other side courtesans under cherry blossoms. Signed: Kinkozan. Diameter: 12.5 cm, height: 5 cm. Period: Meiji around 1900. + Wooden box.

19th Century Chinese Blue and White Porcelain underglaze Blue Urn with Cover, 17 1/2", 10" wide-widest part, 5 1/2" diameter-top rim, sharp brilliant nice underglaze Blue decoration of double Happiness character among scrolling vine and Peony floral decoration, marked on the bottom but this urn or jar was made during early 1800's to mid 1800's, representing good quality of Blue and White Porcelain Product. A small celadon bottle vase, decorated to the body with iron-brown spots and rising with spiral form neck. Northern Song period PERIOD : Song Dynasty 960-1279 AD. MEASUREMENTS: 9.7 cm height. CONDITION: very good, minor frittings on the rim, no cracks or hairlines and free from restorations.

Antique Japanese bronze usubata in the shape of a boat. Held up by little waves, it seems to float along on the water. Made for ikebana flower arranging. Signature on the bottom in a raised cartouche.

A Chinese Blue and White Meiping Vase. Circa, 1368-1644, Ming Dynasty. Found in the Philippines. Featuring a tapering body supported by a tall splayed foot with a short and waisted neck and is decorated with a band of floral scrolls in between a bordering ruyi pattern with floral sprays and alternating clouds above stylized pattern with a geometrical border. Measurements: height (10”inches). Condition: absolutely in perfect condition. No cracks, chips, or restorations...

Unusual Antique Japanese choba tansu (merchant's chest) with kannon biraki doors (hinged doors), made of kiri (paulownia) wood, safe box on right side has another single hinged door and two small interior drawers, 5 drawers, beautiful iron hardware with chrysanthemum shaped lock plates on doors and warabite shaped drawer pulls, Edo Period, mid 19th century. Size: 31" high x 31 3/4" wide x 13" deep.

A lovely little set of three smaller axes, one likely German or Northern Europe, dark bronze hardstone and finely polished (9,8 cm), a nice green stone Meso-American celt, also neolithic period (6,2 cm), and lastly a pointed butt type, likely ancient Near East or Northern Africa (7,8 cm). Interesting lot that needs more study!

Large ovate hand axe made of a flake of tan quartzite. Bifacial tool with carefully worked front side. The rougher back side with fewer removals. The continuous cutting edge weathered by sand and wind action.
This type of tool stands for the presence of Palaeolithic populations in North Africa.
