Extremely rare example of Early Ming dynasty large blue and white bowl, decorated to the exterior with Eight Buddhist emblems or such known as Bajixiang supported by Lotus flower. Xuande six characters mark to the rim and of the period. Condition is damaged and re-glued. Diameter: 29 cm and Height: 10,3 cm.

A startling find! A Horned Demon mask dating from the Nanboku-cho to earlier Muromachi eras (14th to 15th centuries) carved from a single block of wood and enclosed in an ancient kiri-wood box. The visage would have once sported a lower jaw, likely suspended by chord, which is no longer extant. It is 21 x 15 x 9 cm (8-1/4 x 6 x 3-13/4 inches) and is in overall fine condition, exuding a great sense of age.

Rather unusual late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) Chinese seal carved out of a natural boulder. The stone is of military green color, softer than jade and appears to be magmatic in nature - see the folds of its outside produced by cooling of the rock. Chinese Song Dynasty black glazed Pottery Jar, 13th to 14th century, 3 1/2" high, 5" wide-widest part in the middle, 2 7/8" diameter-top rim, with dark brownish black glaze. The unglazed bottom section is rounded and smooth and has incised small marks and drawings-see photos. there are few frits on the bottom.
A pair of Japanese lacquered iron abumi (stirrups) decorated with gold lacquer on a roiro ground. It has butterfly family crests (mon) in the center of a scrolling leaf and flower border, the interior in red lacquer.
The butterfly design was a favorite among the aristocrats and was seen in their belongings, ox-carts and attire during the Heian period (794-1192). They were also seen in armor of the Heike (Taira family) before power was shifted to the Genji (Minamoto family) samurai...

16/17th century small votive Indian bronze of Shiva lingam altar protected by a small hooded cobra and attended by Nandi bull - the vehicle of Shiva, or sometimes considered to be a form of Shiva himself. It rests in its usual position wearing rich trappings in front of a Shiva lingam altar, and there is a pile of offerings by his raised foot.
