This is an authentic Ushabti figurine from ancient Egypt, dating back to the period between 1200 and 300 BC. A rare and beautiful Japanese KOZUKA KNIFE HANDLE of a by-knife that is part of a sword mounting. It is kept in a slot on the reverse side of a Kattana Scabbard, often with a matching Kogai. It depicts the Gatekeepers arm-wrestling, EDO PERIOD (1603-1868). Shakudo alloy with GOLD decorated appliqué of the Guardian Kings AGYO and UNGYO. Size: 9.5 cm x 1.4 cm.

Lovely hand painted Japanese Kutani tea caddy with inner lid. The jar features birds in flight, a slight crackle finish, gold accents, and is in excellent condition. There are no chips, no cracks, no hairlines, no repairs. It is signed on the bottom. The tea caddy measures about 5.75 Inches (14.6 cm)tall. Circa 1900.

Chinese Export Rose Mandarin pattern porcelain covered dressing jar or patch box, circa 1840, 3 5/8" high, 3 1/8" diameter, with overglaze enamel of Chinese Mandarin figures in two(2) cartouches and birds and butterflies in another cartouches. Top of the cover is decorated with full scale of Mandarin court yard activities. The quality of the painting is very fine and still retain brilliant gold highlight...

Pair of early 19th century Japanese sword menuki each depicting a pair of armored samurai in sword fights in different attitudes. Wonderful work, bronze with gilding, slight wear, in very good condition. Length 1 1/4 inches.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this fragmented, but still lovely Egyptian blue faience offering cup with cartouche. The back and part of the lower portion is missing, however the front containing the cartouche of the pharaoh is still intact. The cartouche is highlighted in black and appears to contain the cartouche of Amenhotep. The vessel measures 2" in height, plus the size of the base. 19th century netsuke carved as Amida Buddha sitting with his hands in jo-in mudra - hand gesture signifying concentration. Amida (Amitabha) - "The Buddha of Immeasurable Light and Life” - is the principal buddha in Pure Land Buddhism. Excellent carving of his facial expression of quiet meditation, beautiful rhythm to the flow of the folds of his robe, remnants of gold lacquer on his hair. Wonderful staining and patina, very pleasant to hold. Height 1 9/16 inches.

Antique Wooden Buddhist Temple Bell (mokugyo), dating from the end of the Edo Period. 15 x 15 cm.

Handcarved and made of one piece of wood. The Buddhist Mokugyo has a nice sound and symbolizes a japanese carp kingyo. It has been used for more than two hundred years in a Buddhist Temple in Gifu. It was once given as a gift to a member of our family, who was a famous ambassador...

Hand colored copper plate etching, trimmed and glued on old cardboard, beneath with an old label in French, written in ink: "Arc de triomphe a Canton en Chine". Designed by P. van Blanckaert and etched by G.G. Winckler in Augsburg Germany, in the second half of the 18th century. Depicting the view of a triumphal arch at Canton. Condition: Trimmed, mounted on cardboard, small but old fissure, lightly stained. Dimension: Etching 27,5 cm x 40,8 cm. / cardboard 35,2 cm x 48,5 cm.

Early 19th century boxwood netsuke of a man carrying a cloth bundle on its back with a boy’s head sticking out of it, while a huge dragonfly landed on the father’s sleeve. Wood is lacquered in Negoro style - red lacquer over black, so as it wears the black starts showing, and then the wood. The fronts of his feet have been reattached, repair is done very well, the figure stands on its own. Excellent faces, beautifully worn, really nice feel of age to the piece. Height 2 3/16 inches.

A rare ancient agate bead made for wearing as a pendent or necklace. These beads date back to over 2,000 years. They have some kind of tiger influence in their shape and stripes.. Size:1.9 cm X 1.9 cm. Condition: No repairs.

19th century marine ojime (slide bead for tightening the cord going from netsuke to inro) in ball shape carved in the round with shishi (Buddhist lion) frolicking among rocks and flowers. Beautifully carved, excellent patina, metal liner to the central hole. Diameter 0.68 inches.

Very sharp with readable letters all around the central star and knob.

A small but very attractive album leaf in ink and faint colors on silk depicting a scholar on an outing on a river or lake. Signed: Yue An zhu ren (Moon Hermitage Dweller). Dated gengshen = 1860. The style used is in imitation of the ‘dry or sparse ink landscape’ associated with the Yuan painter Ni Zan (1301–1374). Qing, mid-19th cent. H 23 cm, W 18.5 cm (picture frame). Condition: Fair w. some soiling.
