A very unusual and rare mid Edo period iron Duo. Full wrap around breast and back plate with hinged shoulders plates. Detail of an incredibly fierce and deleted dragon wrapped around and suspended around swirling clouds.
In japan, the dragon represent wisdom, strength, force for good, wind, water and of coarse wealth. Dragons are destructive forces, but they are also considered guardians.
The collar of the undergarment is hand sewn silk embroidered with gold threads...

A Fine Straits Chinese Turquoise Ground Vase. Enamelled in famille rose with a pair of pheasants perched on a rock, among flowering peony and other flowering plants. Chinese 19thC. Height: 10 1/8" (25.7 cm). Condition: very good, two frits on rim. This is an early and very well painted example of Straits Chinese porcelain.

17th Century Kangxi Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Censer

An eastern mediterranean core – formed glass amphoriskos

Core-formed opaque blue Amphoriskos with yellow and white trail wound spirally around rim and neck, under the shoulder both trails are combed into a feather pattern. The knob at the bottom and the handles are made of greenish clear glass.

Antique Japanese large Buddhist altar table. Made of carved and lacquered wood and decorated with many petalled chrysanthemums. The kiri blossom in the center is the mon used by the Toyotomi clan. Dramatically curved legs and flanged top. Covered in a warm gilt lacquer finish. The table top is lacquered black.

Age: Late Edo Period

Dimensions: 31 1/2" high (34 1/2" high including flanges) x 82" long x 18 1/2" deep.

A rare antique Japanese Sado Island Kasane Tansu made of Kirinoki (Paulownia) and Suginoki (Cryptomeria) woods. Original hand forged iron hardware including the Warabite handles, decorative lock plates and front of drawer corners. The two upper full width drawers have lock plates that each feature the lucky Phoenix bird while the two lower drawers 3/4 width drawers shows an auspicious crane above and a good luck sea turtle below both representing longevity...
