This is an authentic Neolithic Hongshan jade object, described in the literature as "hoof-shaped." Current scholarly opinion is that it was used to hold the individual's hair, based on where these objects have been found in excavated tombs. The piece measures 4-1/2" in height and is 2" in diameter. As with most published examples, it has two holes near the base which would have allowed the insertion of a "pin" to hold the hair in place...

This is a very fine Japanese cloisonne vase from the 1890's. The work is good enough to be Hayashi. The vase is rather large at 9 1/2 inches and loaded with fine detailing. It is not perfect and the price reflects this. At one time it was a lamp. The drill hole was nicely filled but there are several craze lines around the vase. The rims appear to be silver or nickle. This is a beautiful rare piece of cloisonne.

One of a group of very large Ming Dynasty pottery horse riders.

The figure is of a military attendant, wearing a hat and carrying a sword on hiss side. He wears a green robe with yellow sleaves -Sancai colors. The unglazed areas are covered with white and black pigmented colors.

Note that the painting is very detailed and includes wonderful thick and perfectly rendered facial features.

This amulet is carved from a beautiful blue-green stone, most probably jasper and has been done with great attention to detail. The surface has a wonderful "mellow" patina and great tactile appeal. This is a diminutive portrayal of a crowned Buddhist figure, most likely a Bodhisattva, dating to circa the 6th century AD, Northern Qi dynasty. Note that the nose and areas of the forehead are darker than the rest of the stone, indicating that they have been rubbed by the hands of worshippers over the centuries, creating a "sweat stain" darkening of the stone...

This is a 19th century excellently hand-carved netsuke depicting a Kyogen and Noh Mask Group of Nine. Among the ancient Japanese Theater represented on this mask are: Hannya, Buaku, Okame, Okina, Otafuku, Oji, Osofuki, Noborihige, and Tenjin. Signed Koichi in an oval rectangular reserve, right next to the himotoshi. It measures 1.65 inches (4.2cm) in diameter, and 1.08 inches (2.8cm) thick. It is in excellent preserved condition.

Unusual Japanese gyosho bako tansu (merchant's chest). With original red lacquer finish, this large piece holds three very deep drawers, each with squared kakute iron pulls on stylized pine tree mounts. The top drawer features a large central lock with flying crane motif, while the lower drawers feature chrysanthemum locks. The sides of the tansu also have two handles for traveling.

This is 19th century, hand-0carved netsuke depicting two Karakos with typical costume who are holding a large Daruma Doll. Netsuke measures 1.24 inches (3.1cm) wide, and 2.12 inches (5.4cm) tall. Netsuke is in excellent condition, as may seen in the posted photos.

This generously proportioned chawan (13.5cm in diameter) shows nice age, especially around the kodai, and likely dates from early Edo (several hundred years old). The base is unglazed showing the molded clay, contrasting nicely with the jet black glaze which displays a slight purplish hue when held to the light. The soft sheen of the Raku glaze overlying rippled and shaved clay gives this bowl a distinct presence.

This two handled bronze hand warmer is a late 19th century product. It is 5” long, 4” wide and 2 5/8” high (with handle standing is 4” high). It has a cut out geometric pattern and plain body.
