An unusual and rare Pre-Columbian necklace of ancient ivory-colored petrified Scorpian eggs and ceramic disc beads that were discovered together (it was restrung in Columbia)...

This is a very nice solid figure blowing into a conch shell. It is attributed to the Protoclassic Nayarit culture of West Mexico, C100BC-250AD. It has the original pigments that are much brighter than the photos show. It is a beautiful patinized orange and black. There is a chip off the right rear foot. Repaired from approximately 9 pieces, root marks and numerous mineral deposits. Provenance: Hilton Collection, Santa Monica, Ca. Collected in the 1960s. Pre-Columbian Chinesco Seated Figure. Rare Type ‘C’.Circa. 300 B.C. – 300 A.D. 6 1/2” x 2 1/2”. This very rare type ‘C’ sitting in a pondering state, showing mineralization and root marks. Several repaired breaks to arm, torso, and leg. Provenance: R.G. Munn
