This is an extremely rare assemblage of five bone gorgets. The top one is river-stained and highly engraved, almost unheard of. The middle one is very thin and also engraved. It is a 5" long by 1-1/2" wide. It was found on a Site in Virginia, called Mendota. This Bone Relic was purchased from Karl Kilguss at the Ripley Show. Karl got them from the Rich Johnson Auction that was in January. The bottom one is completely petrified...

Hohokam carved red basalt effigy big horn sheep ca. 650 ad. No Restoration, In as found condition with excellent ground deposits. The Hohokam seemed to use the red basalt for stone ceremonial effigies and objects but the red basalt was harder and rarer for them to find than the black basalt. This is a fine carved effigy of a big horn sheep which the Hohokam prized due to most likely how hard they were to hunt and kill. I would imagine you were at the top of the hunting game to bag a big horn...

A rare Sultepec mask, possessing a great nose. This piece dates from approximately 500BC to 200Bc it measures 5 1/2" by 4" wide the nose rises 3" from the back. there appears to be a small amount of repair to the nose. there is an old auction number as well as a small tag with DeRoche on it, although I haven't spoken with Dave it is possible it was once in his gallery in San Francisco.There is a small chip on the right side of the top. This is a great mask at a great price.

A white-slipped terracotta bowl with a rounded base, curved walls, a deep interior cavity, and a thin rim.

It features a nice geomethric decoration in a rich brown hue.

Size: 12,5 cm. in diameter and ca. 7-8 cm. tall.

Condition: Nice and intact, small pinhole in the wall and a blemmage in the bottom, perhaps oil or residue from former mounting?

Alexandria, VA had a thriving salt-glazed stoneware industry throughout most of the 19th Century. Many pieces are marked with the makers name and "ALEXa" or "DC/ALEXa". This is a very rare projectile made from a stingray barb. It is 7 3/4" long. It was found in the Pacific Islands. It has beautiful patina. There is no damage or restoration. It is from the Dr. Raymond Thomas collection. I have only seen two of these in all my years of collecting. The other one is pictured on this site in my bone frame.

A female Colima figure from the pre-Classic period [1200 BC-300AD]. She wears a hat, earrings, necklace and shoulder ornamentation. There are stress cracks of the arm, neck and leg which have been professionally restored. It shows strong yellow and red pigmentation. 9" high.

These are five extremely rare copper skull bells/pendants that were found in an elite tomb at Monte Alban, Oaxaca in 1936. Each bell in about 1/2". They date to 1000-1500AD. Copper was mined largely from Guerrero. No cleaning or restoration, exactly as found. A must have for any pre-Columbian metallurgy collection.

In my 40+ years of collecting, I have seen many bone fish hooks and have owned over 30. This one is the best I have ever seen. It is a G-10+, museum quality. This one is so well made that it goes beyond being utilitarian and was probably a family keepsake and worn as an effigy pendant according to Robert Butler who authenticated it. This beautiful Olmec mask is made from semi-translucent jade. It is 3" X 3 1/2". Very deeply defined features. I purchased it from Michael Robbins of Santa Fe in 1989. It has high polish. A very nice authentic piece at a low price.

A rear and ancient Pre Colombian quartz and green jade necklace. The long quartz beads average length is from 75 to 85 cementers in length.
