Ancient egyptian carnelian scarab amulet 2,7 cm

Scarabs were used by living individuals as seals from the start of the Middle Kingdom (ca. 2055 BCE) onwards. Nice small collection of 7 miniature stone axes and tools, Egyptian, 4th. millenium BC.

A splendid large steatite scarab from the New Kingdom, 16th. century BC- 11th. century BC.

The scarab is carved with a vase (?) flanked by a pair of hieroglyphs for the Cobra / Uraeus and further down the scarab beetle finely outlined in between hieroglyphs. The scarab is also finely carved on the back and with tiny details of body, head and legs. Note also the cylindrical finials for the horisontical drill.

Size: 22 mm. long and 16 mm...
