An exceptionally large cylinder seal, carved in white limestone of a compressed oval shape, Jemdet Nasr period, 3300-2900 BC.

Very interesting shape, probably made to imitate the shape of a human eye, that is frequently used in decorations on Jemdet seals.

The seal is carved in high relief with wavy lines and elongated eye-symbols.

Finely carved and polished. Described as Hittite c. 1600 BC, in the collection, we think it's somewhat later due to the shape which reminds of the Neo-Assyrian style of the 1st. mill...

A rare elongated irregular form of stamp seal not quite rectangular, possibly in family with the earliest foot-shaped seals, that we know from Mesopotamia. Arched handle, pierced for supension. A Attractive early seal in a substantial size.

Condition: Good Very fine, slight wear from use but intact with redish deposits.
