Appears to represent the nude Adonis, his right leg slightly bent on the knee, standing on a raised pedestal, gazing down on an enamoring Aphrodite, with hair pulled back into a bun, her right arm bent at the elbow, and her left hand, grasping her long, flowing drapery. With some wear to facial details and with extensive remains of encrustations. @ 3rd Century B.C. Intact as shown. 11 inches high...

Black-figure lekythos decorated with two heraldic lions looking back over their shoulders. Rosette and dots in the field.
The vase belongs to the Dolphin Group, which is named after the leaping dolphins on the shoulder. Our piece shows the later decoration of large inverted lotus wreaths.

A very nice Islamic Sgraffito pottery bowl, Bamiyan, c. 12th cent AD. Nice earthenware bowl with incised decorations in the interior. Beige/white underglaze with green and brown decorative colors in splashy designs.

Of rounded form with flaring sides and upright rim.

A substantial and impressive glass bottle, Roman Empire, 1st.-3rd. cent. AD.

The bottle in dark green glass with a globular body, long neck and folded round lip. The piece with an exceptional thick silver irridescence!

Interesting early stamp seal in serpentine stone, dating to the late neolithic period of Western Mesopotamia, c. 6th. mill. BC.

The almost square seal carved with a grit-pattern and with a low worn handle on the back, finely polished.

An unsually large stone cylinder seal, carved in a glossy black green stone, Middle Assyrian period, c. 14th.-11th. cent. BC.

This cylinder is seal 48 mm. tall and c. 15 mm. thick - a seal that gives a huge imprint when rolled on clay. The seal showing an archer fighting a winged griffin. The archer is probably the Great King and he is kneeling shooting his bow into the face of the Griffin, which is lifting it's left paw...

Very large and impressive early Dynastic or pre-dynastic stamp seal, Mesopotamia, ca. late 4th.-early 3rd. millenium BC.

The seal hemispheric, drilled through the top in a greenish-black stone with a high relief engraving of a 4-legged animal.

Size: 30 mm. in diameter and 16,5 mm. high.

Condition: Choice, fine patina and wear but intact.

Black-figure depiction of naked youths with clamydes that cover their shoulders and bystanders clad in cloaks. All figures hold spears.
The scene is framed with ivy garlands on the sides and buds alternating with dots on the marked shoulder. A row of tongues emerge from the ridged junction to the neck.
Applied red on the outer edge of the rim and the sideward rotelles, the ridged junction to the neck, the garments and the fillet of one youth. Faded white dot rosettes on some garmen...

An ancient Egyptian carnelian Scarab, c. 1200 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 3/8” long (9.5 mm). Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

Painting on Egyptian pottery is not very common before the New Kingdom (1550-1069 BC), but appears often in the late 18th Dynasty. This blue-decorated pottery was first recognised on a bigger scale at the palace of king Amenhotep III (1388-1351/50 BC). A finely polished and fully symethric Egyptian stone jar made of a type of beautiful chlorite stone, 3rd.-2nd. mill. BC.

The jar was used to hold cosmethics in the 3rd.-2nd. millenium BC. Nice marks of drill inside, recessed footring and a tiny rim also carved!

Ancient Egyptian Bronze Double-Ureas. Depicts two cobras, each with a broadened hood and shows the details of each of the snake’s body. 1 1/4 inches high. Possibly a decoration of a large bronze Osiris. Late Period, 25th-26th Dynasty, 745-525 B.C. Ex. RDA private collection, acquired in NY art market in the early 1980s.

A Kushan gold necklace delicately strung with very small ancient lapis lazuli beads (approximately 24 beads to an inch). There are 12 gold coins with images of 6 ancient kings - six on each side. There are 2 kings that we recognize - one is Vasudeva I, the other is "Ohsho" holding an elephant goad, thunderbolts, a trident and a goat. The center bead is a oblong fluted gold bead. There are also two blue glass beads flanking the central gold bead. Wearable.

A lovely greek pottery head of a female godess, likely Aphrodites, with intact neck and all detals preserved, Hellenistic period, 3rd.-2nd. century BC.

These heads was likely ritually broken in some cases and are not rare on the market, but this head are of much better quality and style than most heads for sale.

Size: ca. 4 cm.

Ex. Collection of a German Goldsmith, 1960-1995.

The winged scarab was also a common motif on mummy masks and coffins, representing rebirth. Along with the 4 Sons of Horus, it too would have been placed on the beaded netting, usually placed over the heart.
