Used by the bride for wedding this elaborate kingfisher feather crown is a very old and rare piece. The oldest kingfisher ornaments were made by glueing the feathers onto heavy paper. Metal wire was only used to attach pieces together. Both paper and the feathers are fragile, so not many of these old pieces have survived. This one is in average to good condition, some paper loss and some feather loss...

Chinese Silver Boy Bell Pendant, Ca. 1900, 2" high, 1" wide, 5/8" deep, this boy has very loud bell inside him, both side has same raised design, his mouth open and laughing, holding Peach with 2 hands, with Chinese style Pig Tail hair do. This is a plaque made from Chinese medicine and herbs. The herbs contain many ingredients including Chenxiang (aloeswood). The herbs were powderized, pressed, and then carved...

During the Qing Dynasty, the feathers of the kingfisher bird were used to create ornaments for woman to attach to clothing and/or wear in their hair... Through the 1800's These ornaments were made and formed with heavy paper (light weight cardboard...) They had large areas of feathers and the edges of the paper form were bordered with gold paint...and the ornaments were often domed By the early 1900's the bird were becoming rare almost extinct ...so intricate and smaller sections of fea...

DESCRIPTION: A Chinese export filigree bar pin fashioned from three hardstone discs, two of jade and one carnelian, mounted in delicate, decorative openwork made from thin twisted wire. Most likely dating to the Victorian era (1837 – 1901) when such pins were fashionably worn at the neck fastening two collars, the pin is in very good condition with no chips to the stones and slight wear to the wirework. DIMENSIONS: 3 ¾” long (9.5 cm) x 1 3/8” wide (3.5 cm).

The overall measurement is 4.2 inches (10.7 cm) long by 0.9 inch (2.4 cm) wide. The jadeite range from is 20.8 mm to 34.9 mm long by 11.3 mm to 15.6 mm wide. The tourmaline is 9.4 mm long by 6.76 mm wide. It is 41.5 gram.

A ring is provided for a suspension cord. The part opposite this ring is a hollow cylinder. It is possible that there was another mobile part now lost? However I do not see any wear that a moving part would have necessarily left traces and the jewel is well balanced so...
