Qing noble court lady's used gilt silver haipin, a very fine silversmith work, quite rare to find

I bought this antique Tibetan ethnic minority needle case years ago in China. Needles were an important sewing tool for women of every indigenous culture and for the Tibetans the needle case was frequently worn as a jewelry accessory for costume adornment festivals. The small jade bi functions as a weight for stability at the bottom of the needle case. It is beautiful.

Used by the bride for wedding this elaborate kingfisher feather crown is a very old and rare piece. The oldest kingfisher ornaments were made by glueing the feathers onto heavy paper. Metal wire was only used to attach pieces together. Both paper and the feathers are fragile, so not many of these old pieces have survived. This one is in average to good condition, some paper loss and some feather loss...

This old Chinese necklace is from either the Dong or Miao minority group. The central medallion is domed on the front and flat on the back. The weight of the medallion indicates that it is hollow. It depicts a minority style dragon from minority legend. With the assortment of items dangling, the necklace is reminiscent of a chatelaine.

In China for centuries various civil officials showed their rank by the finial worn on their hat. The color of the central stone at the top of the metal finial indicated the rank of the wearer... A Chinese court necklace (Chaozhu). The necklace is composed of one hundred and eight red agate beads spaced with three lapis lazuli beads. The lower part is decorated with a lapis lazuli and jadeite combination bead (fotouta), a flat oblong crystal plaque suspending a golden hair crystal drop, and three strings of lapis lazuli beads suspending similar enameled-metal mounted golden hair crystal drops.
