An antique six panel Chinese coromandel screen with motif of birds and flowers inlaid with mother of pearl and semi precious stones. This style of screen emerged during the Ming dynasty in China and has been favored in Europe for centuries. Each element of detail has been masterfully rendered. The lacquer is in wonderful original condition showing a lusterious rich finish.

Chinese antique sewing table, black lacquer with beautiful and ornate gold lacquer designs depicting scenes of palace life, interior has many little places for organizing sewing materials all lacquered in black and gold with bone details, a pull out lacquer and silk area underneath for storing embroidery supplies, claw feet, with key, 18th/19th century. Size: 28" high x 24 1/2" wide x 17" deep.

Antique Chinese large 12-panel Coromandel screen. Decorated with dramatic scene of men on horseback. Bordered by red dragons. The reverse is a quiet scene of trees and flowers. Made of kuan cai (incised colors) lacquer on wood.

Age: Republic Period

Dimensions: 96" high x 222" long x 3/4" deep

Antique Chinese tassels from the 18th centur, Sino-TIbetan. The tassels are inlaid gilt and lacquered iron with red horse hair, probably used as ornaments on a horse for the saddle. The decoration has fret key bands and an endless knot pattern. The tassles are displayed in a plastic case. The top of the tassle measures 4" long(10.2 cm).

Beautiful Chinese antique tray made of intricately carved red cinnabar with carved black lacquer overlay, the red lacquer is carved in a tiny patterned background while the black lacquer is carved as a scene of scholars in a garden setting with black mountains rising on the other side of a carved cinnabar lake, the edges are carved with flowers and bats, stands on four small feet, late 19th century. Size: 16" long x11 1/2" wide x 1 3/4" high

Black lacquer box finely incised with motifs of birds, dormice, vines and flowers, the golden designs stand out pleasantly against the black background with discretion. This Chinese lacquer technique called Ch'iang Chin is very old, it consists of making slight incisions on the dry lacquer then filling them with gold powder mixed with fresh lacquer for good, lasting adhesion...

Antique pair of deep brown lacquer bowls. Carved all over with detailed scenes of scholars in gardens and pavilions in the mountains. Dramatic rock formations and various trees. The inside and bottom of each bowl is lacquered black. The rim and foot are ringed in bronze.

Age: Ming Dynasty C. late 16th early 17th Century

Black and red lacquer box inlaid with mother-of-pearl, sides in bamboo basketry. Interesting and rare Chinese work of the Ming period. The work of the basketry is exceptionally beautiful quality, the bamboo fibers are very fine and perfectly woven. The mother of pearl inlays are of excellent quality and extreme finesse. The interior is lacquered in red as well as a part of the sides. Many missing mother of pearl as you can see on the pictures...

Antique Chinese coromandel screen in 4 panels, scene of noble men, women and children in pavilion setting, inlay of carved lacquer, bone, mother of pearl, jade, agate and other stones on a brown lacquer ground, below are designs of flowers and butterflies, the reverse is painted lacquer design of birds and flowers, 19th century. Size: 72" high x 73" long (each panel is 18 1/4" wide)

These polylobed wooden cups covered with a thick layer of sculpted cinnabar red lacquer were to be used as planters. The interiors and undersides are lacquered in black. It is very likely that the interiors were lined with gilded copper or tin containers, in order to protect the lacquer from permanent humidity, the black lacquered backgrounds suffered from this humidity.A fractured place reveals a piece of textile...

Small Antique Chinese Coromandel screen, 4 panels with scene of children in pavilion setting, inlaid with jade, bone, agate, and mother of pearl on black lacquer ground, details in gold lacquer, Republic Period. Size: 22 1/4" high x 25 1/4" wide x 5/8" thick.

Antique Chinese low rectangular table made of carved lacquer in the tixi technique and decorated with guri "sword-pommel pattern". The lacquer is applied in multiple thin coats of alternating black and red then carved down to reveal the layers. The underside of the table is carved with a four character mark.

Age: Republic Period

Dimensions: 9 1/2" high x 26 1/2" long x 13 1/2" wide

An unusual octagonal Chinese lacquer stacked box set painted with black ground and elaborate gold designs featuring prominently the warring dragons and pearl motif on the lid, also repeated stylistically on the sides. Cabriole legs support a sunken base which supports 2 trays and a lid. Overall condition is quite good but as you will see in one of the photos, there is paint loss on the legs to varying degrees, the one shown being the most egregious example. The interior of the box is crimson...

Gold and black lacquer painted box. The decor consists of reserves containing pictural scenes of characters in gardens with pavilions. The bottom is decorated with flowers.
The inside of the lid is decorated with tea leaves in gold lacquer on a black lacquer background.
This box rests on four wood polychrome lacquer feet carved in the shape of a bat.
