These two vases were mostly part of an altar set that included an incense burner and circular box, all in cast bronze and having similar Koranic inscriptions. The vases are heavily cast as are most of these types of inscribed utensils. This hand made 19th century Chinese sterling silver inkwell is 2 ½ inches long, 2 inches wide and 1 5/8 inches high. It depicts a cormorant sitting on a fishing basket. It has “sterling silver” (in Chinese) stamped on the bottom and a glass container inside. It has nice patina and is in excellent condition.
