Vintage Chinese silver pin in a shape of a mythical animal. Judging by the flame like mane it is possibly a huodou - a large black dog that can emit flames from its mouth. Chinese etched and carved design of Double Gourd and leaves in the background Brass Lock and heavy Key, Ca. early 1900, 2 3/4" wide, 1 3/4" high, 3/4" deep(outside measurement), 1 3/8" wide(inside opening), hole is less 1/8" diameter round, in working condition, polished with many years of usage naturally original condition, some areas are stained and dark. This lock and key was found in Yunnan Providence in China.

There are some interesting embossed and inscribed Chinese design under the old stained Brass in original condition. Thick and large size of the key is very decorative.

The lid has many vent holes, some of which are shaped like stars. and these organize the round holes into what looks like many plum blossoms.
