A very attractive Chinese stoneware jar with a wide ribbed body. Hand crafted with a dark celadon glaze, the inside which is brown is also glazed, can hold liquids, and can be used as a vase. In excellent original condition, no cracks, no hairlines. Circa 20th Century, it measures 8” high x 8.5” diameter, mouth measures 5" across.

Pair Chinese green glazed ceramic storage jar with a globular body. The interiors are also glazed as well as isthe inside of the lids. Embossed CHINA on the bottom, we date them circa 1900. In good condition, one lid is damaged, see last photo, but it is glazed over with a clear glaze, so it was fired this way. Measures 7.5 inches high including lid, 7 inches diameter.

This figure of a guardian foo dog is of a natural rich brown unglazed ceramic with white glazed eyes, eyebrows, teeth, claws, and a line of spots on the spine. It is very well-modeled by hand with a highly expressive face and jaws. The chocolate-colored body is also offset by a black glazed mane and tail. The modeling represents an anatomically correct male. There is a loss to the tip of one ear, as well as the tip of the tail...

It is an astonishing vase which does not resemble anything known.The shape is very elegant and the decor simple but powerful. But I have absolutely no idea what it is. It is probably buffed sandstone rather than terracotta. The decoration presents a dragon in slight relief pursuing the sacred pearl. The decoration seems to me molded rather than sculpted. A cream glaze covers the whole, stained with brown iron oxide...
