The size of Koro: 5 7/8" Long x 4 3/16" Wide x 7 3/4" High. This is beautiful Japanese Shaku (Jue) Koro by Shou. Koro was made by same type fine quality crackle glaze earthen ware as Kyoto Awata Yaki or Kyoto Satsuma pieces. The Koro has intricately made with work around the body. The condition of Koro excellent, no chip, no crack and no hairline except noting one repaired spot on one of leg as two close up photo showing. The leg was snapped off cleanly at the side way...

This antique Seto piece features a warm matte ash glaze with several patches of darker and lighter pigmentation. The molded clay shows striations that resemble textured wood grains—highlighted by a soft patina developed over many decades of use.

Seto is a pottery tradition established in the 12th century with the aim of reproducing fine Chinese porcelain and tenmoku-style chawan—which were hard to come by in Japan at the time...

A medium sized Japanese Oribe dish with a rich, brilliant green glaze and plum blossom brush painting. The crackle in the glaze adds to the design and the edging is painted. The bottom is unglazed and has 4 indented strips. Invented in Japan in 1605, Oribe ware introduced vivid pattern and color to a ceramics tradition that had previously favored somber, monochrome designs.

Hand made more than hundred years ago in Iga, a small tow in the mountains of Mie prefecture, famous as the birthplace of Iga ninja.

Items like ours gave big inspiration to one of the worlds famous potter Tsujimura Shiro.

Iga-yaki is a style of pottery where the ceramic is fired at high temperatures causing it to crystallize in a red hue, with brown-grey burn marks caused by log ashes, and the melting effect of the vidro (feldspatic glass)...

Very refined covered box in satsuma earthenware. The polychrome decoration of gold and colored enamels represents courtesans walking in a lake landscape. The gold powder border is decorated with stylized chrysanthemums. The interior presents butterflies finely made in polychrome. A signature drawn in gold lacquer, in a cartouche, by Kinkozan. This Japanese lidded cloisonne pot is referred to as Totai Cloisonne. The base material of the cloisonne decoration is ceramic and not the usual metal. Various cloisons which are adhered to the ceramic surface are filled with a variety of coloured enamel as is the case with cloisonne on metal. The pot is in good condition with an overall floral decoration. The internal lip of the lid has a small flake.

Antique Japanese vase decorated with scroll vine motifs around the mouth of the vase and animal like figures near the mid-section of the vase. The glaze used for this piece is emulation Jun ware which was developed in the Song Dynasty in China and in Japan, Song dynasty style glazes captivated connoisseurs and tea masters. The vase itself is very textured in body with a vertically ribbed form as well as tight ridges horizontally. The upper body and neck are glazed in thick oil spill colors. Antique Japanese large onigawara roof tile end cap. This beautiful tile was made in the toukigawara method with a hollow interior. It once graced the roof of a large building, perhaps a temple or an important house. It has a raised Tomoe crest (mon) in the center which is surrounded by wonderfully three dimensional swirling clouds and topped with it's own roof. Meiji Period (1868-1912). Size: 20" high x 22" wide x 12 1/2" deep.

Antique 19th century Meiji period miniature Japanese Satsuma vase in the form of a small handled water bucket – Teoke. The exterior is finely hand painted with a group of 10 samurais, dressed in elaborated brocade kimonos, highlighted with gold. A raised border adorned with intricate geometric designs, in raised enamel and gold.

This is a fine Japanese Satsuma sake pot or small teapot. It is signed by Kinkozan. Still retains part of the original Kinkozan sticker on the underside of the lid. Which means this piece was never used as a saki or teapot. It measures 4 1/2 inches across at the spout. The handle is slightly tattered but the pot is in excellent condition.

Beautiful and unusual Jomon Era vessel from the Shiizuka Kaizuka archaelogical site in present day Ibaraki prefecture. The Jomon Period (14,000 B.C.~ 300 B.C.) is considered to be the most intriguing period in Japanese Art history. This amber Raku chawan was made in late Edo Period (1800-1868). Raku pottery is traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremony since as early as the 16th century. Thick feldspar glaze highlighted by reddish ore seeping from the iron-rich clay, this is a very attractive Shino vessel that may have originally been a yunomi but was later fitted with a silver globe and repurposed as an incense burner (koro). In Japan extending the useful life of a piece—by converting it to another use or perhaps by mending broken pieces (kintsugi)—is a common practice which demonstrates a deep consideration and respect for ceramic works of art...

Beautiful porcelain kutani beauty, geisha in training. She reads a poem, possibly a love poem. She wears a robe that is tied in front, miko, indicative that she is not yet a geisha. The outer robe is blue decorated with white, red, green, and gold colors. She measures 13.5" tall. Meiji Period (c1900).

Wonderful Charming small Bizen ware handmade sculpture of a sitting dog. Nice detail work especially his eyes and ears and even the circular woven mat on which he sits. He has a collar and an alert expression. Original piece with no condition issues. Taisho Period. (1912-1926). Size: 5 1/2" high

Urn-shaped earthenware vase with decoration of a lady and a boy dancing. Subtle crackle-glaze in shades of peach and pink, with gilt and white moriage (slip) articulations on an olive-green background. Unmarked, but with Japanese handwriting on sticker. Meiji period (1868-1912). There is a drilled hole to the base, for a lamp wire. Height "9½/ 25 cm. Condition: fine. Please note that the white patches near the foot rim on the photos are just reflexions.

Ancient Japanese Neolithic Jōmon Culture large ceramic vessel. The dramatically flared rim and other raised decorations indicate that this vessel was likely created for ritual use rather than as a food or cooking container. Clay was mixed with materials such as fibers, micha and crushed shells to give it an adhering quality. The walls of vessels were built up using a coil technique. The wet surface of the clay was smoothed before rough cords were impressed into it creating a distinct patte...

Antique Japanese ceramic bizen ware sculpture of Ebisu and Daikoku, two of the most popular of the Lucky Gods. Diakoku, who is usually pictured standing on top of bales of rice, instead stands on top of a large ball. He is shown carrying a lucky mallet (Uchide no Kozuchi) and a bag of treasure which is thrown over his shoulder. He is the protector of agriculture, farmers, and rice merchants. Standing to his left on the side of the large ball is Ebisu, the protector of fish, fisheries, seafood...
