Japanese single section clothing tansu, with Kuri burl hardwood front drawers, iron lock plates with foliate edges, warabite pulls, fan-shaped iron corner hardware. The bottom corner has a safe door with round lock plate and ring pull. Inside are the two smallest drawers in the chest.

This is samurai's battle surcoat in Edo period. It is a family crest of the deer horn and the character in the cotton of the indigo dye. There is a motif of Maru also in surroundings of the skirt. It is very a battle surcoat of Chatami. There are discoloration in the plain wood cotton and the white ground of the collar.There is no damage. It is very good. A woven antique Japanese men's wallet decorated with geometric design created with brocaded silk ribbon. Inside, hand stitched with Sashiko stitches on silk. It is heavily embroidered with bright and beautiful flowers of many kinds, colorful leaves, twisting striped ribbons in thick gold and silver thread, and shibori accents.The upper interior is lined in white silk. This very unusual Kyoto ware chawan is decorated in underglaze blue on a buff stoneware body.

The motifs are very odd and present mysterious pictures a poetic calligraphy.

Inside are 5 spur marks indicating that these bowls were stacked inside each other in the kiln. A previous owner has obviously been very attached to the bowl as it has several fine "kintsugi" gold lacquer repairs.

The Teabowl was made in Edo Period at the end of the 18th. century...

Antique Japanese marquetry box. The front consists of 6 small drawers of various sizes, each intricately inlaid with tessellated hardwood patterns. The sides and top are covered with larger sections framing smaller marquetry pattern bursts that echo those on the drawers.

An antique Japanese Byosho Bako (peddler's chest) made of Hinoki (Cypress) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware. Two loop rings where a carrying rope was once attached allowing the merchant to carry this chest on his back. The hinged door opens to 5 drawers used for the storage of wares for sale. A few small ink stains on the upper surface attests to the merchant using the top as a writing surface when writing sales...

Girl's kimono made of hand-spun cotton with flower motif which is Yuzen-zome (hand-painting). The ground cloth is benibana (safflower) dye. Benibana was grown in Yamagata prefecture in Edo period, and it was very precious. It was traded to Kyoto and dyed there for kosode kimono or others for women of a family of high-ranking samurai or merchants. Benibana dye has faded in upper back, but generally in good condition.
