Antique Japanese kuruma tansu, or wheeled chest, made from keyaki (elm) wood with a deep red lacquer finish, featuring an unusual back and sides with horizontal slats. Japanese three string musical instrument Player, Meiji period, late 1800's, 2" high, 2 1/2" wide, ,1 1/2" deep, the ivory figure is finely done, add nice age patina on smooth rounded carving with humorous face and hairdo, small tip of the string instrument is broken off, age crack on the tip of the robe on the left back side about 1/2" long.

This is an extremely rare Japanese cloisonne enamel. It appears to be an early Ando piece. I say this because of the form used and the enamel technique used on this vase. The enameling has characteristics similar to some of the unique signed Kawade pieces with their mottled flowing enamels done in various colors. The enamels also vary from translucent to opaque. Antique Japanese bird mask of Karasu Tengu. This mask represents the legendary creature represented in Japanese folklore, the demon fighters who trained Yoritomo his sword skills. The gold eyes painted on the mask denote the demon character. Back of mask shows artistic carving in the kiri wood, including embossed mark of maker Osaki Kotasu. Unusually large Japanese bronze vase. Slender middle, with large chrysanthemum flowers climbing and curling around center of vase. Vase has round bottom with tiered gourd shaped base on which flowers bloom. Beautiful detail and deep, even tone to bronze. Top of vase is lined with artistic geometrical pattern. 19th C Japanese Imari porcelain dish featuring 2 shishi lion dogs. In very good condition, no chips, no hairline, etc. Scene in the center has fine gold highlights showing no wear. Measures 9" diameter x 2" deep.

Rare Japanese small Tansu made with Keyaki wood with multible small drawers. A locking bar fastens vertically in front of tansu secures the drawers. Dated inscription on bottom reads year 1766, " Meiwa 3" Edo Period: 1766 Dimensions: 16.5" Tall, 20" Wide, 12" Deep

A rare and vivid Imari ware porcelain tea pot, made around 1850 in the famous Hichozan Kiln. Hichozan was a trade name used by the group of Arita kilns & makers mainly for export during the late Edo to the Meiji period in the 19th century. Their works are hold in museums and from collectors worldwide.

A Fu lion is hand-painted on the body. The signatures of "Hichozan" and the potters name are written on the bottom.

Antique Japanese Funa Bako (ship safe box) made of a very dark reddish Keyaki (Zelkova) hardwood, with a front hinged door adorned with iron hardware. Decorated with small flower studding and flower lockpins. Behind the hinged door are six drawers of varying size with ring pulls. Very heavy and solid, original finish. Features a hidden secret drawer.

Japanese Marquetry wood inlaid Hanging Cabinet or hanging cupboard with doors, one(1) shelf inside, Meiji period, later part of 1800's, 24 3/4" high, 22 1/2", 6" deep. All the Marquetry inlaid wood designs are on the front part of the doors and the top area, representing typical Japanese Artistic Symbols on the Hardwood Cedar and other mixed wood, and Brass key hole is not complete...

Squaty and stout Antique Japanese iron Tetsubin with iron lid. Hailstone covering top half of kettle. Bottom half has beautiful wear with soft ridging. Handle of kettle was made to sit strait up, making this a solid piece. Top on lid is a budding plant, possibly lotus flower. Meiji Period (1868-1912) Dimensions: 8.25" Long, 7.5" Tall

DESCRIPTION: A fine smoked bamboo ikebana basket woven in a tall ovoid form with entwined bamboo handle. The basket is crafted with a vertical diagonal weave from both wide and narrow splints in contrasting colors. This sturdy and handsome basket has a beautiful aged patina with no losses detected; early 20th century. DIMENSIONS: 18 ½” high x 8 ¾” diameter.

Japanese large Wood square Hibachi with original Copper Lining, 7" high-outside and 5 1/2" inside, 17 1/2" square-outside and 16 1/2" square top rim, 11 1/2" square inside copper lining, with cut out handle on both side, original blue cotton fabric on the bottom. The beautiful bold looking grain of wood is noticeable and all original condition, no major damage except old copper lining is somewhat stained.

Large Japanese Kutani serving bowl featuring 2 separate scenes. In very good antique condition, there is some minor fritting around the outer edge of the rim. This rare Japanese bowl measures 10 inches in diameter and about 3.25" high. Dates late Edo, Circa 1800.

19th C Japanese Imari oval porcelain plate decorated with a simple basket of flowers. Colors are vibrant with old gold accents. In excellent original condition, it measures 12 1/8" x 10 1/4". Dates circa 1870.

Antique Japanese todana mizuya (kitchen cabinet) made from a beautiful keyaki burl wood in reddish brown hues, with two sets of sliding panels, 8 drawers in varying size, and one pull-out panel with a ring handle. It has a very interesting and unusual form, with slats running down its sides and back. The inside of the top set of sliding panels has an aged sheet of paper marked with kanji. Unusual 19th Century Japanese Imari fluted edged dish with an asymmetrical design featuring a basket of fruit and 3 butterflies. In excellent condition, it measures about 10 inches in diameter. Dates late 1800, Meiji Era.
