Well preserved Thai wooden Buddha with nice even gilding, sitting on stepped and draped Throne. 19th Century. Excellent condition.

Rare find: set of three matching gilt wooden disciples-monks in adoration, 19th century, Burma, nice aged patina, excellent condition. Size of each figure: H. 7.5" (19 cm.) x W. 3.5" (9 cm.) at base x D. 4" (10 cm.) at base.

DESCRIPTION: In Burma (now called Myanmar), one of the most honored and beautifully decorated ceremonial pieces was the box that held the many gold lacquered sheets of Buddhist manuscripts, called the Kammawasa. These sheets are read aloud at monastic assemblies, and topics covered could include formalities for the ordination of monks and the bestowal of their robes, the consecration of an ordination hall, celebrating the festival of the full moon, or other such instructions...

A set of rare and complete Burmese manuscript (KAMMAVACA) made from thick cloth coated with gold and lacquer in nice condition. It was written in the Pali language using Burmese script. The square letters were written in thick and black cinnabar lacquer. This set has 16 leaves and 2 wooden covers made from teak wood. Each leave was inscribed on both sides with illustrations of deity figures from Hindu-Buddhist mythology on some leaves...

A late 19th "Yun" lacquered betel box with incised design of animals, elephant,snake,crab etc and dancer. The box is divided into three pieces. The bottom part for betel leaves and the top part for lime, areca nuts, clove and other ingredients. Size: H. 21cm. Diameter. 21cm. Condition: No repairs. The cup of rounded polygonal form with thin sides rising from a decagonal splaying foot, the exterior extremely finely inlaid with various typically Thai designs and motifs in mother-of-pearl against a black lac ground...

Antique Indonesian karambit, knife with sheath, carved from Indonesian Zitan with black and brown tones, The knife handle carved as a bird head, The sheath has two lizards on one side and a frog carved on the top edge. The handle is curved with a steel blade dagger. With custom metal stand.

A fine very large bronze buddha, Burma or Northern Thailand, ca. 18th. century.

He helds both of his hands in a gesture of exposition or teaching (vitarkamudra) that in India is confined to the right hand. He wears multible jewels and a large headdress and especially large earrings. He is standing on a small flat base and professionally mounted on round black wooden plint.

An elaborate and intricate Burmese shrine or altar. The shrine proper is encased in clear glass and sets upon a large enclosed cabinet, most likely for storing devotional items. High relief, gilt dry lacquer has been molded in scrolling floral and foliated patterns. Glass "gems" have been further inset into the design for even more opulent style. A pair of emerald green glass panels have been inset on either side of the mirrored central door...
