19th century Chinese scholar’s desk object carved out of bamboo to represent a cluster of several reishi fungus - the Fungus of Immortality. The top of the carving provides 2 areas for keeping very small objects - tiny ink cakes and such. Beautifully designed, superbly carved both on top and bottom, excellent detailing, great staining and patina. Wonderful feel of age, very appropriate object for a scholar’s desk. Length 3 7/8 inches.
Chinese bronze censer with handles. Measures 8.5" including handles by 6.75" and 3.5" high. Weight 3.5 lbs. Marked on bottom: Made in Xuande Nian in Ming Dynasty. Dates 1800. Exterior polished.
Late Meiji - early Taisho (1890s - 1910s) Japanese Arita round porcelain kogo (covered box for incense during tea ceremony) with sometsuke (underglaze blue and white) decoration. Painted in underglaze blue in Shonsui style: initial Shonsui ware is Chinese blue and white porcelain imported to Japan starting in the reign of Tianqi Emperor (1621-1627). Starting from the 18th century Arita kilns have been producing their own items in Shonsui style...
Japanese small Tansu, Meiji period, late 19th Century, 21" high, 22" wide, 11" deep, one(1) long drawer above three(3) short drawers on the left side, hidden drawers behind blind door on the right side, mounted with heavy black iron hardware. The condition is all original, as found condition and the lock compartment inside is missing.

The interior of box, including the lid and the base are in a light turquoise enamel. The top depicts 2 people in a landscape scene. Very good condition, no chips, damage or restorations. Rare Japanese chirimen silk kimono with a jacquard weave, in gradating shades of blue, with Shibori designs of flowers and flowing water, lined in salmon pink silk with flowers. Shibori is a very labor intensive style of dying fabric in which small areas are tied and twisted to create dramatic patterns. Jacquard weaving is done on a special loom and results in complex patterns.

Unusual secondary burial jar carved of white limestone in the form of a person. Wonderfully sculpted with the head and shoulders making up the lid portion of the jar. The body of the jar is carved with the person's arms in low relief while the rest of the jar maintains an ovoid form. Kulaman Plateau, Cotobatu, Philippines.

Antique Japanese nagamochi karuma storage trunk. Made of kiri (paulownia) wood and solid Keyaki hardwood wheels with iron hardware and mounts. A large high relief embossed iron locking plate in the form of a phoenix created a lock and latch system on the front of the trunk. The phoenix bird represents justice and Sun obedience...
Antique wooden lusong (mortar). This lusong was used with a lomok (pestal) by the B'laan people to pound rice in order to separate the grain from the husks. The B'laan people are indigenous of Southern Mindanao in the Philippines. This lusong is especially large and beautifully carved of a single piece of hardwood.
