Figure of Li Teguai / Li T’ieh-Kuai, one of the eight Chinese immortals. Biscuit, enamelled in the Famille rose palette except for the naked parts which are painted in a matted skin shade. Unmarked, probably c 1900. Height "5 /12.5 cm. Condition: a glaze flake to the red part of the cloud, otherwise fine.

From our Early Chinese Collection, a very rare, large, and striking Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD) stoneware jar with lid, executed in a straw colored glaze over buff colored stoneware (or proto-porcelain as it is sometimes referred to, which is clay fired at higher temperatures than pottery but lower temperatures than true porcelain, which had yet to be invented at that time)...

Hetian nephrite jade pendant with illegible archaic script incised on the surface. Cut from the edge of a jade boulder, this piece has a natural shape and “organic” feel. The russet highlights are attractive but artificially induced. H: 5.4cm/2.2in and W: 3.3cm/1.3in- 33 grams.

Covered with ge type green celadon to the footrim, unglazed base. The bowl decorated with incised 8 idol in the petal. Diameter = 17 cm, height = 10 cm. Yuan Dynasty. Perfect, no chips, cracks or hairlines and free from restorations.

A Fukagawa eight and 3/8 inch salad plate. Iris dcoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration including random butterflys. Mt. Fuji mark in underglaze blue inside the foot ring. Late Meiji or early Taisho. Good condition.
