This is a very fine unsigned Japanese cloisonne vase with a unique form. The enamel and wire work are exquisite. It is not signed but the quality is so good and so unique that the maker is Hayashi. Look at the last image of a signed 3 3/4 inch vase and compare them. The work on this vase is not only similar, the gold wire birds, unique spider mums and leaves on this vase are even smaller in size...

A very unusual 19th century late Qing temple vase, sumptuously decorated in the blue and white, doucai, famille noire, and famille verte palettes...

An Yixing Figure of Budai. The jovial figure modelled seated at ease wearing loose robes, the right hand grasping a sack, the face with a wide cheerful expression. Chinese 17/18thC. Diameter 7 1/2" (19.0 cm) Condition; ends of fingers on left hand, tip of right big toe, chips to collar 1.0cm and 0.5cm, edge of robe 1.2 cm restored

This is an extremely rare cloisonne masterpiece. It was created by one of the great Meiji artists, Ogasawara Shuzo. It is also a very large piece for cloisonne, at 14 3/4 inches wide and 7 tall. It probably weighs over 10 lbs. The entire dragon is raised relief. This is an eye catching piece that truly belongs in a Museum. Condition is excellent.

Chinese Five dynasties Yue Yao Bowl decorated with incised flowers motive at outer wall. 10,5 cm diameter, 6,7 cm high. Bowl have restorations (please look carefully at the pictures).

A collaboration piece between the famed poet/ nun of the late Edo period Rengetsu and her younger protege Tessai, this scroll depicts a frightened cricket making his way to the top of a stalk of grass on a windy day. Set in the fall season, the viewer can imagine a message of frailty, loneliness, and possibly the feeling of trepidation that accompanies the turning of the seasons towards the colder months...

Antique Chinese large 12-panel Coromandel screen with sweeping scene of palace life. Inside the palace the emperor attends to royal business while he and other noblemen are waited on. To the far left, the empress sits in her pavilion while court ladies attend her and children play in the gardens. Outside the palace walls on the far right, a procession and military exercises are observed by noblemen...

Here is a beautiful but unsigned Namikawa Sosuke vase. Those familiar with Sosuke's work, will know this vase was made by the master and is authentic. It's a stoutly made piece with silver rims. It stands 6 1/4 inches tall. This vase is in excellent condition. I have also provided an image of a later made, but very similar signed Sosuke vase.

During the Qing Dynasty, Chinese court gentlemen and ladies used elaborate hair styles. To assist in these construction of the "hairdo's", they used a wire form was covered with a mesh fabric. This particular "cap" was used to cover a bun of hair on the center of the head. The silver flat "hairpin" was used to hold the cap in place by pushing it through one side hole, between the hair bun and the scalp and through the other side hole. The inside of the cape clearly shows its age and use.

The black silk is couched in gold-wrapped thread with a five-clawed dragon pursuing a 'flaming pearl' amidst blue clouds and waves. Size: 10 inches (25cm) in diameter.
