The Kanzashi hair accessory has been the main jewelry for Japanese women. This antique comb and hair pin set has a wonderful design of turtles in the bay area on one side and landscape on the other side. It is a classic design in gold makie on tortoiseshell with coral inlay. Hair Pin is 5 3/4" long, comb 3" long and 1" in width. Meiji period (1868-1912).

Miniature shrine, or zushi, with figure of Bishamonten, carved in wood.
Bishamon stands on a demon that is lying on a rock. In his left hand he holds a pagoda and in the right a short staff or stick. Behind his head a gilt metal flaming mandorla. The garment of Bishamonten is decorated in gold paint, the crown and mandorla made of gilt copper.

Heavy and solidly potted Chinese Qing dynasty baluster form porcelain jar decorated in the transitional style in underglaze blue with lotus flower heads among dense scrolling foliage set against a white ground. A border extends around the short, white glazed upright neck. The interior is fully glazed. 19th century. 12” high. Weighs 8 lbs. Very good overall condition. A pair of extremely rare small porcelain dishes decorated with "qianjiang cai （淺絳彩）”， depicting a scene of rice transplanting on one dish, and a scene of rice harvest on another. Qianjiang Cai was a kind of enamel similar to Famille Rose, it was favored by Chinese scholars in late Qing Dynasty. Some researches said it was created in Xianfeng period, others argued that the using of this enamel should be as early as Daoguang period...

This is a KYOTO SATSUMA EARTHENWARE VASE circa 1875 to 1900. Painted with Rust & GOLD there are two Primary Painted Scenes. Those being the SAMURAI Panel and another Panel with CHILDREN Playing. This Japanese walrus tusk carving of a young maiden is a late-19th century or early 20th century product. It is 7 ¼” high (8 7/8” high with wood base) and 2 ¾” wide. It depicts a young maiden holding a long necked vase in one hand and a long stemmed flower in her other hand. There is a tall stand beside her with an incense burner. The statue is permanently mounted on the carved wood base. It is in great condition.

Antique Japanese pair of shokudai (candle sticks) for butsudan. Made of bronze and decorated with unusual silver crest. Each with small animal head handles on either side. Nice weight and patination.

Very unusual 19th century netsuke representing a bird in flight. It may be a swallow, but I am not sure. Wonderful spirited carving capturing the essence of the creature with its swiftness, beautiful face, eyes are double inlaid with horn, excellent depiction of different feathers. Great wear and patina, old age lines. Length 2 1/4 inches.
