Apulian black-glazed guttus of globular body with gently sloped shoulder, upright narrow neck and flared spout. The flared rim decorated with impressed rings.
The loop handle is attached on the shoulder, which is embellished with horizontal grooves. Red wash around and underneath the foot.

Brown-red linear decoration around the body, wavy lines at the handle area, hanging semicircles inside the funnel opening.

The vase is in yellow bronze. It appears to have been taken down with a hammer because it has thin walls, however it may have been cast. It is a very simple design object but of excellent quality, the proportions are perfect, the finishes are very careful. Artisans capable of producing a bronze of this fine quality would have been entirely capable of producing such a fine casting. Fine Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse (AD 618 - 906)

This very attractive pottery model of a horse was made during the Tang Dynasty (AD 618 - 906). It is made from a buff-coloured pottery that has been "cold painted" in a creamy-white pigment. This horse is well-modelled and stands upright and alert with its head turned a little to its left.

Height 22 cm (8.5 inches). A fine example in very good condition.
