A fine Chinese fencai plate decorated with motifs of bats and scrolling clouds. Bats are an auspicious symbol in China and is synonymous to the fortune in Chinese. The back of the plate, is inscribed Dai qing guan xu nian xing. Age: Early 20th century Size: diameter 13.5" height 3.25"

Antique Japanese two section clothing tansu, constructed of Kiri (paulownia) wood with hand-forged iron hardware and plates. The upper unit holds two drawers with two iron pulls each. The lock plate of each drawer overlaid with brass turtle and kiri leaves. The lower unit holds two staggered larger drawers with small safe door.

Antique Japanese half section Mizuya, or kitchen buffet tansu, made of Hinoki (cypress) and Sugi (cedar) wood frame. The chest has bold Keyaki (elm) front drawers along the bottom and right side with copper handles. The large sliding front panels are reinforced with attractive horizontal slats, and open to the large interior compartment.

The top section of the chest holds a large open compartment with five drawers below. The bottom section of the tansu holds five drawers for clothes storage.

A rare and very finely enamelled small vase. On the base is the iron red hall mark - Ju ren tang zhi - "Made for the hall where one dwells in benevolence". The mark is often attributed to the brief reign of the Honxian emperor (circa 1915- 1916) but this item was probably made a little later. Condition - excellent, no damages and no restoration...

A very rare lacquered wood opium box. The outside decorated with poems, seals flower branches and a bird. The lid with brass handles. When folded out the lid and front become a tray. The box offers place to 5 pipe bowls and a lamp and has two drawers for tools. At the back of the mirror there is another compartment.Under the drawers there is space for a small metal tray. A Chinese style celadon incense burner by one of the 5 Imperial Court Artists of Meiji. Sozan spent his life perfecting techniques for celadon production first used in the Souther Song Dynasty as evidenced here with his powdery blue “kinuta” glaze. The bottom of the vessel is unglazed showing the fine porcelain clay and the adjacent glazed foot bears his Imperial Court Artist seal...

Antique Korean elm wood (Keyaki in Japanese) cabinet, with gorgeous natural burl front panels. Four small drawers are along the top of this chest , with three sets of doubles doors below, decorated by brass hardware incised with auspicious symbols. The cabinet's interior is lined in old newspaper, and four of its doors are painted on the inside with charming figures, clouds, and lucky bats. 19th century.
