Early 1800s
This candlestick is cast in the form of a medieval, possibly English, bearded ma. The candle cups and base are attached by a hand-cut screw that formed part of the casting. It has an old, though not original patina. It is in good condition.

This polychrome wood carving appears to be in original paint with old wear and some losses. The right arm has been reattached and a thin base was attached to the base later. Old label with attributes on bottom.

This is a finely carved 19th Century Japanese Netsuke, depicting a traveling Gama Sennin, dressed in his traditional mugwort cape, with a walking stick in his hand, who has taken a break by resting on a porous rock. Small Indian bronze, cast in one piece depicting Vishnu standing on a Lotus base. The four-armed Hindu god is holding the conch and the chakra. Karnataka / Maharashtra. Condition: fine, few traces of usage, patina. Dimension: 17.8 cm high.

Fertility amulet carved in the shape of a male infant standing and holding a lotus flower. Ivory, with a fine patina. China, 18th century. Height: 2 1/8" (5,4 cm). The pice is nicely mounted on a custom plexi stand. Very good condition.
This a Kioto School Netsuke, carved in the 19h century, that depicts a standing Boy, who is carrying a large bag over his shoulder, and is happily eating a piece of Cake. Signed Shoji, on the edge of the boy's robe, in the back. Wonderful mellow patina. Charming and interesting, but seldom seen depiction of Daily life in Japan.

DESCRIPTION: A lovely, large cuff bracelet crafted from a fine silver filigree mesh with a large center turquoise stone and six smaller stones of turquoise and coral. Around these are raised silver bamboo sprigs decorating the front and two hinged sides. This bracelet is closed with a silver clasp and secured with silver chain. This is an excellent example of the traditional Japanese male mask, Buaku, finely carved in the 19th century.
Buaku, is one of the character of the Japanese comic theater, Kyogen, that is commonly associated with demonic roles. Although the mask presents a fearsome expression, its nothing but a farce, because humor is at the heart of the Kyogen play.
