This late 19th century Chinese egg spinach vase is 15 ½” high and 8 ½” on the widest part. It depicts phoenixes surrounded by peony blossoms. There is a blue honorable Qian Long mark on the bottom. Aside from an old chip on the rim, it is in great condition.

Roof tile with a "tomoe-mon", a crest of circular repeating commas in a whirlpool pattern. Fired clay, 19th century. Diameter: 4", Width: 3/4". The round tiles such as this line the bottom roof line, above the eaves. Commonly, the crest of the family or temple was depicted on these tiles. Historically, a center of roof tile production was the town of Ogi, in west-central Japan.

These mid 19th century Chinese carved wood statues are around 12 inches high, 8 inches wide and 5 inches deep. They depict two young men sitting on a Qi Lin (or Qi Ren). Their arms are raised up and they are holding gold ingots. Both Qi Lin have a loose ball in their mouths. The workmanship is great, especially the detail of the Qi lin’s faces. Aside from slightly worn colors and portions of the statues are missing due to age, they are in good condition.

The Japanese samurai dolls are part of the display used for Boy’s Day on every 5th of May in Japan. The dolls are the figures of historical heroes or legendary people to inspire the boys in the family (probably husbands are also included today) in their manliness and hopefully discipline and bravery to go with them.
