The goat springs to right and is seen with one foreleg raised. On the facing side the body of a lion, in a crouched, ready to jump position. The combination of wild goat and lion is rare.

The beaked iron grip lavishly inlaid in gold overall in alternating bands of vinework and beading, the pommel with concealed container has a hidden compartment probably for storing poison in case of being captured. Forte of straight, single-edged blade decorated en suite with gold panels. In its velvet-covered wooden scabbard. Late 19th century. Overall length 35.8 cm. Condition Report: Excellent.

Museum quality Edo Period C.1860 zen temple mizubachi. Lost wax cast with a great dragon spout in grand detail and spectacular shishi mythical lion ornament on the top of the lid. The diaper motif on the base is in raised relief and equally spectacular. The spigot on the dragon head is permanent so we are assuming that there was a constant water flow. Very slight indentation on one of the hanging jewels but so slight you can only see at the right angle. H:51cm x W: 43cm. Ask for shipping quote.

In the foreground, men water their horses before ascending the narrow mountain trail. There is a beautiful sense of whimsy conveyed in the group of horse and men as they wade in the mountain stream in the shade of weeping willows. This early 20th century large stone carving of a water buffalo cow and calf is 6 ½” high, 7 ¾” long and 4 ½” wide. It depicts a cow eating grass but feeding her youngster at the same time. The bodies of both calf and cow are finely incised to represent hair. It is in excellent condition.

Fabulous celebratory Shinto Shrine gable carving Ca. 1850. Carved from keyaki wood, the sixteen petal chrysanthemum is the crest or mon (紋) of the Japanese emperor and is often seen displayed on Shinto shrines throughout the country. This chrysanthemum is framed by a 'Noshi" a celebratory wrapping for gifts. This carving must have been for a new shrine. Great condition. Length: 35";H: 12"; depth: 3". Small seal ring with a finely incised design representing the profile of a helmeted king in a circular frame. Bronze, with reddish-green patina. Bactria, ca. 500 B.C. Diameter of the circular frame: 1.1 cm. Total height of the ring 2.5 cm. Inside diameter of the ring: around 1.1 cm. Very good condition.

Meiji, 1880's, 22" high, 31" wide, 16" deep, Red lacquered leaf shape mon decoration with Kanji Characters, original woven rope handle in the back, and original Rice Paper lining inside. Some black lacquer finish pieces are off from the woven Bamboo surface.

This small Chinese hand made purse would have been made by a woman for her personal use or possibly as a gift to a female friend. It was made using cotton background fabric and hand embroidered with silk thread on each side. The butterfly and floral motifs were made with silk thread using a combination of satin stitches, chain stitches and couching embroidery techniques.

It is a charming example of a Chinese woman's needlework and is in excellent condition...
