Very interesting and unidentified Pre-Columbian pottery vessel or large Jug with handle, pre 15th. century AD and likly pre 1000 AD.

A very artful and attractive vessel with a small round spout and a bulbous body with 6 larger knobs in different colours, red, cream and black.

Perhaps from Peru or perhaps Columbia, we're not certain.

ZOOMORPHIC DECORATED POTTERY WINE VESSEL
Byzantine Empire, 5th – 6th Century AD

A fascinating ancient Byzantine decorated pottery zoomorphic wine vessel in the form of a cockerel with a loop handle.

The liquids could be poured through the orifice in the animal's head...

Large Chinese Calligraphy brush. Dark wood with light coloring grain. Fairly heavy in weight. Dark red horse hair used for the brush material. Handle does unscrew from itself. Circa: 1950's Dimensions: 28 1/2" Long X 2 1/2" Wide (19 1/2" Long Handle)

A "宣" seal mark on the bottoms. Size: 12 cm high, 12 cm long, 4 cm wide. Condition: Excellent.

Antique Chinese carved set of 8 jade toggles. A monk, a holy man, 2 bean pods, a flower, a dragon, a bean pod with leaves, and others. They measure about 1.5" long.

Antique Japanese inro with three compartments, made of wood with gold lacquer and inlaid with gold flecks. One side is decorated with a pair of cranes and sprouting pines. The other side of the inro depicts an ancient turtle who carries, on his back, a large rock formation. Out of the rock sprouts a plum tree, a pine tree and bamboo - together called Sho chiku bai or "The Three Friends of Winter". The inside of each compartment is cover with dense nishji lacquer (fine gold flecks)...

This is a very finely cast Tibetan bronze fragment dating to the 17th century or possibly earlier. It depicts a wrathful deity, possibly Vajrabhairava, complete with finely modeled skull crown/tiara to the wrathful head. Please have a look at the photos and feel free to ask any questions. the piece measures 2.5" in height (6.25cm), not including the custom base. Exceptionally well cast with very fine detail. Not easy to find these days

Extremely rare Sage jubako in wood covered with basketry applied with flowers and plants in lacquer, gesso, mother-of-pearl and pewter (or lead). The box is composed of several stacked parts. The interior is lacquered in red. In the top compartment there are two Chinese characters which are perhaps an artist's signature. Underneath one can see the weft of a strong lacquered fabric ensuring a good solidity...

A pair of rare antique 17th-18th century parade Turkish Ottoman Islamic armor, bazuband ( بازوبند) arm guards (vambrace), kolluk, of a typical form, made of tombak (gilt copper) with turned edges. Each bazuband is composed of a front main plate and a wrist plate connected by hinges and secured with a pin for closure...

A massive ceramic dish with caligraphy very rare for this exceptional size, Samenid Dynasty, 9th.-10th. century AD.

Nice quality for the type with fine black cufic caligraphy on a cream-white ground.

Size: 34 cm. in diameter! Among the largest dishes we've handled.

Condition: Good very fine, very intact for the large size! Intact but for a restored break at the side. Very large part of the original crackled glaze preserved. Some antique wear to glaze...

Upper part of the seated Isis nursing the Horus child (Harpokrates). The miniature scale head shows detailed facial features. The goddess wears the tripartite wig surmounted by a crown in the shape of the st-seat sign, the hieroglyphic sign used to write her name.
With her right hand she is presenting her left breast to her son, which is now lost.
Moldmade. Pale green to white faience with glossy surface.

This is a magnificent greyware vase or hu from ancient China. It dates to at least the Han period (209 BC- 220 AD) but is likely from the Warring States period (circa 500 BC). There are soil encrustations and remnants of root fibers on the surface. There are no signs of repair or restoration. There are taotie handles scultped in the clay to mimic ritual bronze vessels of the same period. This was done because often bronze was too expensive so likenesses were made out of pottery...

Container in 2 parts. Rare form. Perhaps an incense burner or a container to keep a liquid warm? A small undecorated white porcelain bucket fits into a porcelain container decorated with enamel birds. Below mark of Tong-Zhi, one of the last Chinese Emperor. The porcelains of this reign are usually of very low quality, our porcelain is an exception, indeed the birds are well drawn, precision and elegance. Technically, the cooking is perfect, no flaws, no splits or lacks, well-cooked enamels...

Antique chinese bronze vase with a wide oval moon shaped body and short, small neck. On either side is a small raised design. Stunning original natural aged patina finish.

Magnificent lacquered basket with domed lid from the Karen ethnic group Northeast Thailand. The walls are constructed of strips of bamboo with rattan bindings and wooden base. The lid has one layer of woven bamboo with a tihck layer of natural lacquer while the lower half has a classic double layered wall with another coating of lacquer inside, which would have made this piece virtually water proof...

The dish is remarkable because of its very decorative extraordinary deep and intensive crackled Guan like glaze. Song - Yuan Dynasty Longquan ware. Diameter : 12,6 cm. Condition : Perfect

Fabulous Taisho Period bronze buddhist temple water bowl in the shape of a lotus. Great patina from years of use. Two handles and tripod feet. Excellent condition. Ask for shipping quote. 15" wide by 12" high.

A wonderful patina lacquered Japanese black power container. Consisting of lacquered washi paper wooven tightly onto a natural gourd. The woven basketry work is detailed with the original attached stopper and copper lined interior neck.
